Hahaha fuck me, Nigel Farage coming out as the less bad guy on two issues in a single week. What's going on?

[โ€“] Denjin@feddit.uk 13 points 5 days ago (3 children)

On some specific areas of policy, I find Reform's platform thoroughly agreeable. Nationalise the water companies? Check. Nationalise British Steel? Check. Combine social care with the NHS for a unified system? Yes please.

It's just the y'know, the racism that I object to.

[โ€“] Taalnazi@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

The Green Party does all of those. And without racism, too.

Reform doesn't help you. It's a front for oligarchs and pedophiles.

Green on the other hand, actually works for the average Brit who just wants to grill!

Whenever you see far right wingers extol the virtues of socialist policies you can know that they're only doing this for popularity and cover.

When they get in office they will miraculously never make progress on any of the socialist promises but all of the fascist ones happen to stay top of mind for them.

Reminds me of this whole "National Socialism" thing. What a strange coincidence, innit?

[โ€“] DakRalter@thelemmy.club 5 points 4 days ago

Except the racism is the only policy Frogface would follow through on.

J.K. Is probably going to launch her own party and she's going to make Nige look positively reasonable.

Always has been.

It's the same reason that Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling what's happening in Gaza a genocide. Spineless amoral grifters can see that the mainstream political parties are so far removed from their base in major issues like the Gaza genocide and deportations in the US and trans rights in TERF Island that they see legitimacy and clout and most importantly votes to be gained for flipping their previous stances. It's scary shit.

Yes, it is scary that the establishment is so invested in genocide.

Well he did also have that sane moment when Elon Musk suggested Reform needed more Yaxley-Lemon and Farridge was like "lol nah mate"

[โ€“] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

When your so far to the Right that even Far Right types look like Communists from your point of view ...

[โ€“] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Was gonna say that. JK Rowling is so far gone she thinks Nigel Farage is woke.

The mold on her walls
Shuffling yet ever closer
Turning her dement

Genuine fucking clown country, my God. This is a Labour MP, btw:

@Jonathan_Hinder on Twitter: 'The โ€œWoke Rightโ€ not letting this drop. Incredible.' He's quoting another post quoting Ann Widdecombe, Reform UK's Immigration and Justice spokesperson, saying: "Kemi Badenoch needs to grow up and tell us then if it is Conservative policy to put trans prisoners in danger".

[โ€“] Flamekebab@piefed.social 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Ann Widdecombe is still alive?!

[โ€“] flamingos@feddit.uk 14 points 5 days ago

Only the good die young.

The good die young

[โ€“] clockworkrat@slrpnk.net 12 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I'm losing track of which one's the dickhead here

[โ€“] flamingos@feddit.uk 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Basically everyone, we'd all be better off if any of these people got fired into the sun.

[โ€“] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

As an American, would you mind making a stop over here to collect around 77 million people on your way please?

The fucking wheels of reality are falling off.

[โ€“] GiveOver@feddit.uk 23 points 5 days ago (1 children)

All this focus on sports and prisons and nobody's weighed in on the real issue: Can trans women eat Yorkies?

[โ€“] Whelks_chance@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Only if they weigh more than a duck

[โ€“] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Farage, like Boris, has the air of a dog that caught the car and now has no idea what to do with it.

[โ€“] LuckingFurker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I've been convinced since the referendum to leave the EU that he genuinely didn't expect it to happen and was gutted that it did. That was basically his career plan, to rant about how we need to leave the EU forever and it just went up in smoke because of what a dumb country we are

"Why can't i just stop winning!" - Farage probably

[โ€“] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

People like that are in it for the attention, so anything that gives them more attention is good. I bet he never spends a second on thinking ahead, it's all seat of the pants spontaneous blurting out whatever thought happens to pass through his addled brain. The disgusting part is how successful he is with that

[โ€“] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

The outcome of a cultural system in which loudness and conviction are generally more rewarded than actual intelligence and expertise.

[โ€“] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Iโ€™ve been convinced since the referendum to leave the EU that he genuinely didnโ€™t expect it to happen and was gutted that it did.

He has basically dictated whatever fucking policy he wanted since 199X without even getting into power.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_Independence_Party
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_and_the_euro

The UK did not join the Euro, one of Farages' massive talking points and the logo of the fucking UKIP, much harsher immigration rules, actual fucking Brexit. All without being voted into fucking anything.

[โ€“] LuckingFurker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Oh for sure, and I am continuously frustrated by the fucking hard-on the media have for him and his bullshit. But I still think he preferred that position where he could continue perpetually to whine about the EU to the one where we left and he was suddenly adrift for a while. Then luckily Reform appeared and he could do that instead of being the only thing on GB News that anyone at all was bothering to watch. I doubt he particularly wants to be prime minister now, he'd prefer to be the boogeyman of British politics as head of Reform but Labour are doing their best to get him into the job in 29

[โ€“] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Hey, be fair, the tories are doing their part with Olukemi "my existence is the same woke I hate" Badknock.

The Tories are such a shambles anyway after the last 15 years that I highly doubt most people even pay attention to them. The Tories are contributing to it but only by making themselves increasingly irrelevant and unelectable as they stumble around cluelessly

[โ€“] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 14 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Doesn't woke mean intelligent awareness of the issues? Why would that be an insult? Fuck George Orwell for giving Trump's goons all of these doublespeak and projection ideas. Now the whole world is affected and there is no common sense vaccine for it.

Orwell was describing what authoritarians did in his lifetime, and for that matter have always done.

[โ€“] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 5 points 4 days ago

Woke means aware of systemic injustice, and yes it's a good thing. It's like calling someone a anti-racist or antifascist as an insult โ€” it's not an insult except to the person issuing it.

[โ€“] rozodru@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

it's either the grift or mental illness. She made a metric shit ton of money off her books so she doesn't need to grift the right for money so must be mentally ill. or it's that mold that's in her house.

[โ€“] Tweak@feddit.uk 8 points 5 days ago

They talk about woke like it's a bad thing, but it just makes me want to scream "WHEN WILL YOU WAKE UP, YOU SHEEP?!"

[โ€“] xxce2AAb 7 points 5 days ago

Great! It seems that absolutely everybody is woke now, so I assume we've reached consensus on not being assholes to each other. That's wonderful news!

Well, except for JKR, apparently - but that's been a lost cause for a while.

[โ€“] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

I suggest that she should clean up all the mould in her house. Maybe her mind might unfog.

[โ€“] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

Everything seems to be from the other side when looked at from an extreme viewpoint.
