Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

Is it in the video? Or in the comments?

This video is a hot mess from all angles.

Why dig up trash from one part of the internet and collectively get mad about it in a different part of the internet instead of simply avoiding it or at least not spreading it? I don't know, seems like misinvestment of energy and focus to me. On the other hand i also now spent time on this comment, so i'm obviously not perfect either. I'm just saying, be careful what you spend your attention on (just a suggestion)

The comments seem pretty reasonable from what I can tell. People don't want to drop the activities that bring them joy on the advice of some YouTube click farmer. The real question is why we're boosting their traffic. I'm gonna use my flu boredom as my excuse.

Since you watched it, what are the 15 hobbies?

Edit: she has a list. It's

Comic books, cosplay, debating, drinking, MTG, anime, makeup, crypto, cigars, clubbing, weed, toy collecting, online arguing, porn and gambling.

There was a lot of gender essentialism and straight-up misogyny in the comments when I flicked through them quickly. Some that stood out for me:

  • a lot of times, your hobby doesn't nag at you
  • They don't hate your hobbies, they hate the feeling of losing control over you.
  • You don't get to choose what I do in my spare time, just like I don't get to choose your collection of shoes.
  • The main hobby women hate about men is anything that brings him joy and happiness.
  • My uncle used to say: "If it's got breasts or tyres, it's nothing but trouble". Wise man.

And that's from a quick skim. I really haven't the courage to do a deep dive.

hi ouRKaoS! Thanks for your comment, but this community is women-only and has a rule that only women are permitted to comment or post, so please don't comment any further. Thank you and hope you understand 💛

I'm sorry you dove as deep as you did. I think those comments are precisely the kind of "discussion" that the video was intending to produce though. Basically any content addressed at one gender regarding the supposed norms of the other just strikes me as softcore rage bait. "Ladies, here are 5 things" k bye.

The original list this came from had the "list" for both men & women's hobbies, and the preferred ones not just the disliked ones. It may have been a sexist sort of survey, IIRC it was done on some dating site. I found it interesting.

I love comics, husband doesn't. Though I read, rather than collect. Online arguing as a hobby I can't imagine anyone finding attractive, that's not sexist, it's universal.

Some must be generational, my kids who are into guys don't care if they are into makeup but I'd probably not like it. And they would be so into a guy into cosplay, they love that craft.

Life advice: don't read the comments on a public platform

it makes me so sad that this is the state of things, but maybe I shouldn't generalize, like, the youtube comment section isn't an accurate representation of average people's views because it's swayed by bots and political actors to create a false sense of consensus - but I do find I psychologically cede that territory anyway

Yep if it's fb, YouTube etc i avoid
