Some of these comments. Damn. Do y'all not understand that Trump and Bolton have been at each other's throat for quite some time?

This isn't face eating, this is a clear attack on a political enemy. That's the takeaway, and you should be chilled to the bone.

It may be important for people to learn that the Nazi party was originally a socialist coalition party until Hitler and his ilk expelled or murdered the people they didn't agree with. This is identical.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, man. The leopard’s eating bolton’s face.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

You know Bolton wrote The Room Where It Happened in 2020? He absolutely threw Trump under the bus. This would be face eating material if they were still allies of some sort. They fucking hate each other.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sure, but this guy is a total clown so at least we have that.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Who do they come for first, who will be next. How long before your turn comes

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm European so we're doing our thing over here instead, not perfect but not yet that bad (except if you're in the UK, God save the sanity over there).

Good luck though!

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Thanks.. but I’m Canadian. If he comes for us will you guys be next

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

We can try? /j

But yeah fuck the US administration for real.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

I hate Bolton's politics as much as the next guy, but he's no dipshit. I so hoped he would bring sanity to the first Trump administration, and that's why he got fired.

This isn't face eating, this is a clear attack on a political enemy. That's the takeaway, and you should be chilled to the bone.

We have all known this forever. Muricans did nothing when children with cancer were deported, bo you really expect a reaction here?

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 40 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Wasn't Bolton one of the ones who told us to stop overreacting, there were plenty of adults in the room? We said they wouldn't be there forever and he ignored us.

Where are the adults now, Bolton?

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

Busy raping children and not releasing the documents about it.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

that was until he started contradicting or criticizing trump.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 35 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Interesting. The Purges are starting from the inside, this time.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 1 month ago (3 children)

It took Hitler 1 year to get there. And he had already hunted down the opposition.

Trump has been there for 7 months and hasn't sent any prominent members of the opposition to jail AFAIK.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Bolton became his opposition after Trump's first term. They aren't going straight to executions, but they are starting to take action on the dissenters.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago

Ok. So, same as usual, I guess 🤷

But large amounts of the American population have been Nazi-adjecent at the very least since its conception...

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There were plenty in the first term. Remember The Mooch lasting just a few days?

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

To be completely honest, I lost track 😅

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

There were many shenanigans. They were more ready this time but still not quite there.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This is how fasicsm fails, they turn on everyone until no one is left.

One must be careful to not go after those who may have connections to remedy the problem.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I don't think I've ever seen that spelled out in English! Bravo.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Bolton has been to the "outside" of Trump for some time. This is a case of the administration going after enemies.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Thanks for the information. So the purges start with the dissidents, as usual 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

YES! That's the takeaway here. It's not like Trump turned on an ally.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What are the odds one of these former Trump advisors held on to a little bit of insurance for re-retaliation?

God I hope someone thought that far ahead.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Bad stuff comes out about Trump all the time, and it bounces right off. People already know he's awful, and half the country likes it that way.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Very true. Who knows if there even is anything that they wouldn't just reject or wave away.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is that not what the FBI was raiding his house to look for?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

If you're keeping the blackmail material in your own home, then you're the kind of fucking idiot who would deliberately lead us into a war in the Middle East on the premise that it would somehow increase American prestige and power abroad.

[–] barkingspiders@infosec.pub 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The raids are part of a “national security investigation in search of classified records,” a person familiar with the matter told NBC.

The probe is eyeing multiple instances of the use of classified documents in leaks to the news media. The investigation began during the Biden administration, but did not go further before President Joe Biden left office in January.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Wouldn’t want former politicians hanging on to confidential files.

[–] barkingspiders@infosec.pub 1 points 1 month ago

this was the summary from the article, I know this is old news now but here's an independent journalist I follow who offers some more context on this raid in case anyone is interested
