Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Yes, I always start singing on the second line because of this.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 19 points 2 weeks ago

We all know damned well you sang the first line in your head though.

Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?

[–] whoisearth@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

The best song ever written

And they'll continue singing it forever just because

If you told people "this button will shock you if you press it. It will hurt." Some people will press the button.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah but that's from curiosity, not ignorance

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Also from not believing me. They were told what it was but they didn't believe me, so they didn't know what it was until they pressed it.

This is the song that doesn't end. Yes it goes on and on my friends. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn't end. Yes it goes on and on my friends. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn't end. Yes it goes on and on my friends. I never sang the song long enough to get to that line.

I've never once seen a fight while Kelly Clarkson's Fight Song was playing, so, I don't blame them for doubting the legitimacy of the claim.

Be the change you want to see in the world

Rachel Platten sang Fight Song, not Kelly. Just making sure Rachel gets her props.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

See! Can't trust anything you hear any more!

Yeah; some people have started singing it not knowing it what it was, and we all know that some people are incredibly stupid.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Especially children, and it is a children's song afterall.

[–] TastehWaffleZ@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe they started halfway through and by the time they realized what was going on, it was too late. They started singing it, not knowing what it was. And they'll continue singing it. Forever. Just because...

People join Lambchop on the second line so presumably those kids are singing about themselves. Or they just didn't take Lambchop serious and got stuck in the time loop singing to their doom before the regret even had a chance to set in.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Perhaps they did not fully appreciate the implications of their actions. Much as Oppenheimer observed upon the completion if his life's peak effort, perhaps the people truly did not know what it was.

I am become irk.

[–] wabafee@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

[–] wildwhitehorses@aussie.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago

Didn't Ren & Stimpy sing this?

If you read this comment in its entirety, you will get horrid gas and brain worms and your parents will get divorced and they will both turn double gay.

Yet, you are still reading the rest of my comment. Why are you still reading knowing the outcome? I'll give you a chance to stop now. Why are you still reading? What the fuck is wrong with you?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it anyway.

[–] CuriousRefugee@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's just a rainbow, Michael. What could it cost, ten dollars?

[–] nieminen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Does that mean straight? Like, 1x gay, same gender attraction, 2x gay, "opposite" attraction again?

[–] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It compounds, it's not inverse.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Its Gay squared.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org -1 points 2 weeks ago

You mean Fascism?
