I had a cat growing up that was convinced he could find a door in the house that would lead to summer if he just tried hard enough.
He'd lead me around, asking me to open the doors. I'd open them and he'd be so disappointed it was cold and snowy and wintery every time.
My last cat was the same, he expected every exit to lead to a different outside, and they all had to be checked before he would deign going on his litterbox.
They must be like 4 year olds. Their brains just aren't that developed

Title comes from the narrator talking about his pet cat. The cat liked to play outdoors in the warm weather. When winter came she'd run from door to door trying to find the one that opened up to summer.
My cat experience: Have 3 different water bowl with filtered not still water. Cat only wants to drink water from the shower floor. Screems blody murder until I go to the bathroom and open the shower for a couple of seconds so the floor is wet enough for her to lick. if I open too long and it's too wet she wong go in and keep screeming.
Edit: I ment 3 water fountains. We have 3 water fountains for cats
my cat only drinks from the basil plant we have in a tray with water. she has 2 water fountains but prefers the basil water.
Lol at Christmas if we have a real tree our cat will only drink the fir tree water
Edit: we had a fake one but when we moved we lost it and we had to have something for the kid

September is the month they'll look at me accusingly, judging me on why I turned off the summer. After that, they'll accept the offer of indoor heating.
I don't do indoor cats because of allergies. I used to have a cat that someone dumped on the road by my house. I installed a cat door in the basement so she could come and go from there as she wanted.
That little shit figured out where the bedroom was and would climb the HVAC duct to get up right up underneath my bed and start meowing loudly at about 6 AM every day as if to say, "Get up you fat bastard. I'm hungry. Time for sleep is over. Time for feeding me is now!"
I have a cat that only drinks water off her paw. Dips it in the water drinks, looks at her paw like wtf is this wet. Shakes paw spraying water everywhere and then does it again.
