I keep getting ads that blast right out of the gates saying “my husband prematurely ejaculates…” in the middle of the day. Or “problems getting rock hard?” I got my kids next to me. Like WTF? If it’s supposed to profile me, it’s broken. I don’t need or want ED pills and even if I did, why are the ads so crass?

"You don't want personalized ads? Ok, have some dick pills."

“DICK PILLS, DICK PILLS…DICK PILLS DICK PILLS DICK PILLS”

[–] TheAsianDonKnots@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ooooooooh, is that what that is!? Malicious compliance? That’s bullshit if true.

It has to be. When I turned off the ad personalization on mine it spammed me with the most annoying TikTok ads ever (literally only tiktok and the occasional Uber ad, nothing else, wtf?) until I broke down and turned on Adblock

[–] emeralddawn45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 week ago

Why on earth would you have adblock turned off in the first place?

Apparently Walmart can tell a woman is pregnant before they know themselves, they do such extensive data mining around what people purchase.

Maybe google knows your future....

Um, the second (non-ad) link kind of refutes the claim

[–] Shadow@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

Ah thanks, I'm sure that's what I was thinking of.

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 16 points 1 week ago

Also warehouse operators can usually tell, when a woman/employee is pregnant even before she knows, because it will actually show in their working statistics

I've heard that not just from one warehouse manager.

They know fucking before you do, because of the data.
That's a hard thing, if you don't have any labour protection laws

No, that story wasn't about the power of data. It was a young woman using the family computer to browse Target for baby stuff because she was pregnant. And then Target sent emails with baby stuff.

So it's more like: the internet knows you are pregnant before you tell your dad.

They know you’re a woman and your kids are there. They’re trying to get you to buy the ad free subscription, lol.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 7 points 1 week ago

But god forbid a youtuber makes a dick joke.

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

It's because you have personalized ads turned off. Half the ads I get are in languages I don't speak

People who watch YouTube ads aren’t trying hard enough. You deserve the most unhinged ads possible for your laziness!

[–] SeventySeven@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago

I appreciate those people, they are subsidizing it for us adblock users!

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I thought it was for a pregnancy test? Either way it's hilarious.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I need to see this fuckin video

[–] FunctionallyLiterate@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Do share where if you find it, plz!

[–] Shadow@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I found it in the absolute worst format, a YouTube short with some guy watching it. Our society is doomed.

Here it is anyways https://youtu.be/bFLioEc6nCI

[–] randomuser38529@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

First, thank you. Second, yes. Worst format. Lastly, the ad: what in the actual fuck?!
