What does your battlestation look like? PS4/5, XBox, PC or some oddball Chinese retro handheld?

PC and PS5. Bought an Ultrawide monitor at one point last year and that's been a little bit of a game changer for me so I'm pretty entrenched as a PC main.

My PS5 lives in the living room and my wife uses it more than I do, but God of War made that purchase all the way worth it for me with how much I enjoyed that game haha.

PC only when I game. I never really got in to concole gaming apart from a couple of brief stints with a PS1 and an XBox.

Originally it was because I played a lot of flight Sims and then RPGs like Baldurs' Gate which didn't work for concole due to all the buttons needed.

PC mainly, but a couple months ago I got a Steamdeck, and I can now play from the couch on the TV.

I've wanted to be able to play from the couch for a long time, but I did not want a PC on the TV, so this is a very good option.

I can play casually and also play coop sometimes easily.

Most importantly, I don't have to be in my "office" room, since I work from home, it is good to be away from the room I am all day working on.

XBox One Series X, 48" OLED, big ol' comfy chair, 2 liter of Shasta cola and my "All Rush" mixtape.

[–] Theorize3806@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Only on my Switch. I only have so many hours I can dedicate to gaming with my job, a master's program, and taking care of my 2.5-year-old.

Wish I could get a PS5 though. There are some PS5 titles I'd really love to try.

I game on Windows laptop and Apple TV.

[–] Mars@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Steam Deck, my Desktop computer (Nobara) and my Laptop (Fedora, pretty rare these days)

[–] friedmag@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

PS5, though I'll probably end up getting a switch still. Probably right before Nintendo unveils a new console...

[–] Goronmon@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

In order of usage:

Series X

PS5

Switch

PC

Though PC is mainly on my crummy laptop and not my aging gaming PC these days. Can't really just disappear into the office to play games anymore.

Used to play on PC but rarely have time to do so now. So now I play Zelda on Switch while commuting :D

[–] IcedCoffeeBitch@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

PC and Switch, nowadays mostly PC tho, both on my laptop(which has mostly replaced what I did with my switch) and my desktop.

[–] computerfan0@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I mostly use my Linux Mint PC and the family Nintendo Switch. I also have a PS5 and a 3DS which get occasional use.

[–] nachtigall@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

Mostly PC (Linux), sometimes Switch. I also have a Raspberry Pi as a retro console emulator for old stuff like the original The Legend of Zelda.

[–] blindgambit@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

PC and Switch over here. Switch is mostly for Nintendo games but the game I've played the most on it is Stardew Valley, the portability rocks. I am looking forward to picking up a Steam Deck in the near future though.

[–] Carter@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago

Mainly PC or Switch. I was PS4 all last gen but switched to PC due to Sony's scummy practices. I also had a Deck briefly but the subpar hardware wasn't very enjoyable.

[–] Voyajer@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Up until recently I was using my steamdeck for the majority of my gaming due to it being faster than my PC and, but since then I've changed careers and work from home now so I've built myself a new Linux PC and use that for the majority of my gaming.

[–] beefcat@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I primarily game on PC. I also own a Switch and a PS5, and most major consoles released since the NES.

All my old consoles live in plastic bins with all their relevant cables and controllers. Most have flash carts or mods that allow me to load ROMs off external storage. When I want to play some SNES or PS1 I just pull the relevant box off of the shelf and plunk it down by my RetroTINK or my PVM.

[–] stappern@feddit.it 2 points 2 years ago

PC mostly but I also have a hacked ps4 pro which is still pretty fun ,I had a series X but ended up selling it since I rarely used it

[–] Mrmcmisterson@slightlyawesome.ninja 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Mostly PC, I have a PS5/PS4, switch, and xbox series as well. The xbox is basically collecting dust as most games that come out there are also on PC. The PS5 gets some use when there's an exclusive and the switch is somewhere.... I just don't know where.... Maybe in the couch?

[–] Itsamelemmy@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 years ago

I didn't buy a series this gen because everything is on pc. Well, will be once Xbox starts actually releasing decent games. Only things I'm looking forward to are starfield and hellblade.

Probably play the ps5 the most, then pc and switch rarely. It's mainly for Mario, zelda and metroid.

[–] Oneeightnine@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago

I own everything, but I'll be honest my preferred way to play right now is on my Steamdeck. Being able to play PS4 quality games on the sofa whilst the kids/partner has the TV is a game changer for me.

[–] masked_nybbles@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I don't play games with much frequency, but I play on some combination of Steam Deck and a desktop running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, a Linux distro.

Edits/Changes: Forgot to specify Tumbleweed.

[–] YuzuDrink@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

I go back and forth between Steam (PC or Steam Deck) and my Switch, depending on what I'm playing. I do have a PS5 which I'll use mostly for Sony exclusives... like FF16 is going to be a PS5 play for me.

[–] Kerrangutan@lemmy.one 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ps4, pc and mobile.

Obligatory "Fuck Google" for killing Stadia.

[–] butter@lemmy.jamestrey.com 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Stadia was great. No monthly fee. Good enough selection of games. If they had put literally any effort into it, they could've done amazing.

It was cool of Google to give me my money back for my games.

Linux desktop running Manjaro - mostly use Steam Games and Veloren

[–] sqrtd@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

I only play on my Steam Deck and/or on my Desktop running Arch(btw)

Desktop Specs: OS: Arch Linux CPU: Intel i7-9700K GPU: Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition RAM: 2x8GB 3600 MHz

[–] Nobug404@geddit.social 1 points 2 years ago

Custom built pc.

[–] hellequin67@feddit.uk 1 points 2 years ago

Mainly mobile gaming with a Samsung Tab S6, with pc games via Nvidia Geforce.

I don't really play enough PC games to justify a gaming rig/laptop.

[–] QuentinCallaghan@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 years ago

Mainly PC (running Pop OS) and Switch.

[–] Lotsen@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 years ago

I play some games on my ps3 bit I also use my computer for newer games and emulators

[–] any1th3r3@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

for me it's one of:

  • PS5
  • Xbox Series X
  • Steam Deck
  • Switch
  • Analogue Pocket
  • Analogue Super Nt
  • PS Vita
  • PS3
  • 3DS

not really by order of preference, but i guess how much i've used them recently

[–] YuzuDrink@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I've wanted those Analogue consoles for so long, but I just can't quite justify the price tag on them.

Used to be a console guy, then after xbox one - me and all my gaming buddies went to PC. Now I play on a PC I built myself and I own a Steam Deck!

[–] followthewhiterabbit@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

After zero PC gaming in forever I got myself a Steam Deck and have been loving how it performs!

Series X has been my focus but the lack of decent games made me move elsewhere before Starfield drops.

But also have a Miyoo Mini V2, and a jailbroken Switch.

[–] HowDoYouDo87@beehaw.org 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

PS5 for me! I’m basic :)

[–] lajian@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

+1 fellow PS5 (& Switch) gamer here. It has to be quick and easy.
