I used to collect pocket knives. It's taken a bit of a backburner spot on my hobby list recently. Mostly because a hobby built around buying expensive items with little intention to use them is hard to justify as a priority. All in all I've spent thousands on knives and have next to nothing to show for it. If i were to die today, someone could buy my whole collection for around $1500, so i can't really say it's been an investment.
I got into collecting the same way everyone does. My Dad took me to big 5 and let me pick a knife. It was a crktm16 and it was the coolest thing in the world! From there I wanted more and as i started to get real amounts of money i started to buy more expensive knives. My first "expensive" one was a Benchmade bugout. Then a Benchmade 940. Then i got into spydercos and other brands.
