Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

So is warm ice cream and cold soup.

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 10 points 11 months ago

Icecream soup ftw!

But if iced coffee tastes great, what about hot beer? We do have hot wine (mulled wine).

Welcome to German Christmas markets, where you can buy and (without irony) enjoy hot, spiced beer. And wine. And several other beverages.

Okay that’s amazing. I need to visit at Christmas time! My family is German but I’ve never been to Germany!

Just make sure you go to a nice one (I'm not of any help, I'm not the Christmas market type of person), some are really touristy/fake.

In the Wind in the Willows they mention mulled ale, so it is a thing or at least it was in 1908.

I prefer a steamer for my beer

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I was confused for a moment because I was thinking of a chilled coffee and not a hot coffee that has gone cold.

[–] pruwybn@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 11 months ago

Yeah, I thought about that too, but I thought "coffee that's gone cold" would make the title too clunky.

I know a guy that likes his beer how he likes his coffee: hot. He buys a case of Hamm's and tosses it in his truck for when he gets off work. He's a construction worker so he's mostly working while it's 90°F (30°C) out.

[–] theodewere@kbin.social 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

if he has some cheddar in there he can have hot Hamm's and cheese

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

If he takes it home, throws it in a pot, adds some broth, a potato. Baby, he’s got a stew goin

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I hope he doesn't drink and drive. I assume he is responsible but you never know. You should not drink a beer and then immediately drive.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 11 months ago

You know… they are. I had never thought of it, but damnit you're right.

The metal cutlery in the drawer and the drawer itself are the same temperature.

[–] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What is the correct temperature for an Irish coffee?

[–] Karyoplasma@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 11 months ago

Depends whether it's your first or your 21st.

[–] recapitated@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Warm sprite and water are the same effervescence.
