Could be a time zone thing. In the time zone of the novelty account the death could have happened on the previous date
Looks like the account posted no in the morning and he died in the evening, at least by UTC. So it's not entirely wrong.
Which is a huge blunder - seeing how it says "today" in the title.
Yeah, why wouldn't you post it always towards the end of the day instead.
To be fair, it's asking "Did Jimmy Carter die today?" not "Will Jimmy Carter have died today?"
Do these type of novelty account usually end up working in the end? Never having used Twitter myself, the only times I have ever seen them is times like this when they end up missing the relevant event, and screenshots of that end up on other platforms like this here.
I assume the owner set up a script to post "no" every day. Nothing more complex like trying to auto-read news posts to find a relevant one or something.
The owner just didn't see the news in time to stop the bot.
I admit this is the first one I've seen.
I might set one up for "the end of the world"
