Need for Speed Heat. I forgot how much fun the NFS games could be. Plus it looks gorgeous both docked and undocked.

I'm also working my way through the Yakuza series, about ⅔ through Kiwami 2 at the moment.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 6 points 1 month ago

NFS Heat is my favorite one. Good soundtrack, and the different track types and gameplay between day and night really keeps it interesting.

So far just subnautica. I have never played it before, but it definitely fits the handheld + couch vibe more than the keyboard and mouse one.

The Talos principle 2. I liked the first one but this one is so much better.

It runs great on SD except I would prefer some text to be larger. It is readable it's just a bit uncomfortable for my eyes.

[–] coronach@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 month ago

I've found the deck magnification shortcut to be unhelpful when I've used it - often because the resolution of the text isn't high enough for it to look legible when blown up.

Satisfactory runs great on the deck, takes a bit of doing to get the control scheme working well. It's a serious time sink though. Loads to do. Currently moving from my starter factory to my first mega factory.

The usual balatro with some skyrim and euro truck simulator on the side.

Right now i'm looking for some management game, because euro truck does not scratch the itch enough.

I'm playing some Unicorn Overlord, it took a while to kick in but now I'm totally hooked.

[–] Flamekebab@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

I've fired up What Remains of Edith Finch and handed it to my teenaged niece. That seems to be going well.

[–] Vertelleus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

I've been swept up by Palworld. I started my own server up for my partner, myself and some of my friends. My partner and I played most of last night waiting for the ball to drop. I may have gone a little overboard trying to breed the perfect Pals.

Bit late to the party but slay the spire and dredge

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 4 points 1 month ago

Heroes of Hammerwatch, Windblown, and Risk of Rain 2

Been nice since the SO also has a steam deck now.

My 11 year old brother was told he can’t beat DOOM Eternal on Ultra Nightmare (1 life mode) given only 100 hours of playtime. I told him there’s absolutely no chance he can do that if he’s on Xbox or PS, and to prove it to him I’ve been letting him try on my Steam Deck which is essentially a console controller++

Credit where it’s due, he’s great with the thumbsticks but he’s changed difficulty from Nightmare to Ultra Violence a few too many times to instill any confidence that he could do this lol

I recently started Bombrush Cyberfunk and I'm enjoying it. The combat isn't great, and the music doesn't work as well as the original JSR soundtrack, but otherwise it's really good and I recommend it.

[–] Xyloph@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Mother 3 fan translation, gives me 7 hours of battery :) always loved Earthbound so it's nice to finally play the "sequel"

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Helldiver's 2, witcher 3, and hades.

[–] sunred@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago

To clear my backlog a bit I recently played Little Kitty, Big City, Smushi Come Home and now Paper Trails. Currently more on the 'cosy train' of games. I think Little Kitty, Big City was the first game I played on the Deck that implements the Steam Input API.

I decided to stop playing Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga because the game became too tedious and I wasn’t having as much fun with it. A shame because I loved M&L Dream Team and wanted to start from its roots.

Now currently playing Sea of Stars and Hades.

[–] charles@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

Started playing Spiritfarer and UFO50 in the last couple weeks and will likely play them into the beginning of 2025.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago

My wife and I are squandering the power of our gaming devices by just playing Balatro on them 24/7. She’s on the Deck, I’m streaming from my PC to my Retroid.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I’m enjoying Marvel Midnight Suns. It has very fun combat tactics, I probably should turn up the difficulty but I love flinging soldier at each other.

I just wish it turned down the social elements a little bit. The game feels like it was a fan fiction dream of its writers and so you spend time going to a book club with Blade or having your supporting comments rejected by turbo-grump Captain Marvel. It’s also hard to absorb drama behind a premise such as “People can get perma-hypnotized.”

Isles of Sea and Sky, Logiart Grimoire and Persona 3 Reload.

All feel like they've been made for deck. Great games, too.

[–] tiberius@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Curse of the Golden Idol + DLCs

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

NEVA. SIFU is up next, got it free a couple days ago! Been mostly playing on desktop lately though (FFXVI)

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

holding space for rebirth 😊

[–] fadedmaster@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

Finishing up Lies of P. Debating what to play next. I picked up a few things during holiday sales and giveaways and might play one of those games. Thinking of doing Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Might do Path of Exile 2 though since someone else here said it's been running fine on their Deck.

Helldivers 2, Belatro and bg3

[–] CybranM@feddit.nu 1 points 1 month ago (3 children)

How does bg3 play on the deck? The turn based combat suits it i imagine but the performance can't be that good?

[–] Dunstabzugshaubitze@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

played through it on release, act 1 and act 2 were fine, occasional dips below 30fps.

act 3 had a lot off texture pop in and walls that would only appear after some seconds, but the game received performance patches after i finished it, so probably better now.

[–] galmuth@feddit.uk 1 points 1 month ago

I've been playing BG3 for about 70h on the steam deck. Performance isn't perfect, but it's definitely playable on 30fps and low graphics. I've just got to Baldurs Gate city and I noticed the audio stutters slightly in busy areas. That's the only noticeable performance issue I've had.

I have only played it on the steam deck so I have nothing to compare it against however. I'd love to play it on something more powerful so I don't have to see it in potato-level graphics tho 😅

Sonic x Shadow Generations. Loving the Shadow portion so far. Feels like Sonic Adventure stages

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 2 points 1 month ago

Last games I played were Life is Strange: Double Exposure and after that the phenomenal The Excavation of Hob's Barrow.

Currently I'm playing through Diablo 2 again.

  • Skald: Against the Black Priory
  • Mud Runners
[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How's Skald? It looks interesting

[–] F04118F@feddit.nl 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It is. Very atmospheric, and I'm sure there's a whole lot more depth to things like combat and crafting if you're interested.

For me it's just an easy and accessible story RPG. The text-based dialogue and turn-based mechanics make it ideal for on the road gaming IMO. You can look up from your screen or suspend and drop the Deck into your bag at any point.

The writing is great and the game feels much, much, much more fluid than the actual old games it is based on. A lot of love and care has been put into this. It's very affordable and the most battery-friendly game I've played. So when you start up your Deck on the train and only have 15% left, this gives you much more enjoyment per battery charge than anything else.

Full disclosure: I happen to know the artist who did the character art.

[–] Earflap@reddthat.com 2 points 1 month ago

I've been playing CP2077 again with the new patch. I also got God of War: Ragnarök for Christmas, so I've been playing that as well.

[–] zurchpet@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago
[–] nycki@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I bought the deck so I could play modded games on the go, and its been great for that! Lately I've been playing PlateUp with mods like Fry That, a difficult chicken wing themed menu that will test your ability to manage your kitchen pot stack.

[–] cotlovan@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The Akham trilogy, I'm playing Akham City at the moment with the HD texture pack.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago

Arkham City was such a good game, I have really fond memories of it.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 1 month ago

haven't really started anything new and I may have mentioned this before but its been years and sorta a big deal for me but I finally did an ending in both cyberpunk and elden ring. I actually completed the dlcs before the normal endings.

[–] ZeDoTelhado@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Second play through of crosscode. This time, with the inflated damage glitch applied (option from new game plus)

[–] truxnell@infosec.pub 2 points 1 month ago

Inscyption, dredge, ufo50, hades
