It's alright! I recognized the cacodemon, but didn't know it was a cropping from another DnD monster until I looked it up thanks to your meme, so thanks! It's a fun piece of trivia
I would bet that the concept predates D&D too. It's basically a visual pun on "eyeball."

The artist probably just relied on search results and erroneously thought this was an image of a beholder. But it is very clearly a cacodemon from DOOM instead. I could very much see many people making the mistake and thus the search results getting mixed in too.
Dino rock ball? Rock dragon ball? Wait..
