Article says everybody agrees on there not being any Canadian options, and it being a public safety issue. Framing it as "Conservatives are traitors, ammarite" is kinda gross here tbh.

Re-watching it, and yeah, has to be gagged. If you listen closely, there's a small "click" after what at first sounds like "gay", which is likely an "ed" sound.

I think he was trying to say "gagged" but it does sound like "gay" lol

Wish I could watch and see what specifically the video is about, but unfortunately on the bus and left my earbuds at home :(

In any case, not to self-promote, but I made this community little bit ago that I hope will help things out: https://lemmy.ca/c/maplemusic

Remembering how my sixth grade teacher back in like, 2012, was telling us a high speed train from Edmonton to Calgary would be a stupid idea, and that waiting for the hyperloop would be a smarter idea.

Hope he's enjoying that curdled milk.

Not my area of expertise, but try taking a look at this list: https://codeberg.org/Taffer/canadian-alternatives

You're not funny bro.

Got any other jokes to sell us, or are you supposed to be the punchline here?

I swear, Americans will sooner protest a Disney movie or Oreo Cakesters being discontinued before they end up protesting their country invading ours.

Ah yes, let's travel to the state where the Govenor has a new podcast with his first guests being "I hope that black pilot is qualified" Charlie Kirk, "I'm banned from the UK for being so racist" Michael Savage, and "Nazi salute" Steve Bannon.

Oh yeah, and that's a Democrat doing this, the "normal" political party in the U.S..

"We meet the criteria" no you don't, you pulled several of your candidates and gave them the false pretext that you met the same criteria the other parties did.

The PPC didn't meet the criteria and neither did you, maybe next time grow a spine and run candidates in Conservative-likely ridings because the fight for your cause is worth the uphill battle.

As someone in a Conservative-likely riding, I'm furious that I wasn't given the option to vote and canvass for the Greens. Pedneault had me thinking that he was a positive change in the party leadership, and now the "strategic" decision to pull candidates in ridings like mine is coming to bite the party in the ass.

Ah yes, cause the less than one million green voters would have filled a nearly three million vote gap in November.

No Name has an option.

Also while still an American brand, Lays has their Stax brand, and I believe their chips are made in Canada from Canadian potatoes.

I made this community about a week or so ago on the Lemmy.ca to help promote Canadian music and musicians. Been posting each day, with features in the community such as a ListenBrainz playlist for songs shared in the community, weekly featured artists, and weekly discussion posts (currently paused until Monday to sync it with the start of the week).

This is something I'm incredibly passionate about. Canada has a lot of music talent that is overlooked, and while the amount of Canadian music talent has done nothing but grow, the discoverability for Canadian musicians has faltered in recent years with the decline in local Canadian music publications.

Please come in and share tunes from Canadian musicians, inform people of music tours occurring in Canada, and showcase Canadian music news and magazine articles!

Been working on grabbing a few movies from online to download and save as more options for movie nights with friends on top of the DVDs and VHS tapes I have.

I'm aware one can find mentions on Wikipedia or the Internet Archive saying "oh this film is public domain", but the sourcing seems to be sketchy a lot of the time. Like a Wikipedia article will mention a movie is public domain, and then link to a site for public domain movies or the Internet Archive with neither stating why the film is public domain.

Is there a simple means to check for yourself the copyright status of movies? Would help a lot with having confidence in the collection of films I'm building up.

Man, what a cop-out.

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, more than happy to be pointed in the right direction if it doesn't.

I wanna do movie nights with friends where we watch movies together in the living room on my TV. I have a DVD player and VCR I got from the thrift shop as well as a few movies for both. However, I was thinking it would also be fun to expand the options available by downloading a bunch of public domain movies to play on the TV. Only issue is figuring how I'd work that all out.

The TV lacks any network connectivity features. While it has a USB slot, it can literally only detect pictures and set them up for slideshows. Even tried putting some video files on to test and it won't detect at all. Also because my computer is a desktop, connecting it directly to the TV from the other room is a no-go.

Is there some sort of device that serves this kind of purpose? Like something I can download videos to, and then connect it to my TV in a similar sense you would a DVD or VCR and be able to choose the content on the device using a remote? I'd really appreciate the help and pointers if this is something that exists.

Watched this all the time on Treehouse TV as a kid. Apparently it was originally on TVO? Crazy how I remember it so much despite it only having a single season apparently.

Figured I'd try promoting the community here. It's only been around a few days, but I would love to make this community an active and thriving one.

I just like Roblox for the social interaction of being able to chat and hang out with people online. I don't need the game to be quite like Roblox, just want a good social experience is all.

Was thinking of swapping to VRChat, but the annoyance there is that they're also American. Anything worth checking out?

So the other day I was in a conversation talking about the MP for my former riding, Greg McLean. I by no means am a Conservative voter, but of the Conservative MPs I can give respect to, Greg McLean is towards the top of the list considering the social issues he's worked on, and his engagement with the community.

I was checking out his website and shockingly found that he has a BlueSky has one of his social platforms. Not only that, but he also uses it regularly, posting multiple times per day. Now this could just be his publicity team rather than him directly, but it still caught me off guard in a positive way that it was a platform he utilized.

It had me thinking. What other MPs use BlueSky and/or Mastodon? I feel having a list would be a useful resource especially in asking other members of parliament by legitimizing the idea of providing a method of following them on social media without using X or Facebook.
