Tell that to Dan Sullivan.

Thanks! Wish I was able to utilise this, but unfortunately I'm not in Europe. Will see if I can reach out to my credit union however!

Well excuse me for thinking that it's not enough being done when your country is quite literally threatening to annex mine. After all these years of applauding "efforts" to no avail, perhaps it's high time I start only applauding results.

Gonna quickly ask here what the Women's March protests accomplished while I'm at it. Oh that's right, nothing but a giant virtue signal that simply died off after nothing of substance came as a result, and I'd be shocked if the "Hands Off" protests resulted in anything different.

5 million people standing outside some buildings in order for their local reps to have a brief look out the curtain as they continue to rob that crowd of their fundamental rights. If only that many more Americans went out to vote instead of not bothering to vote at all.

Also yeah, regular back and forth, totally the same as being a sugar daddy being taken advantage of, and sorry for deciding to ask a twofold question to a public community.

Americans I swear. The lack of reading comprehension shows when you're so hung up on this point that I already addressed in my original post.

[–] BinzyBoi@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What exactly do you mean by this?

[–] BinzyBoi@lemmy.ca -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

There's personal, private reasons involved that I'm not at liberty to disclose.

Also, literally stated in the post this is reciprocal.

Edit: You live in Denver, what the hell are you doing in this community?

Hey all, in an interesting spot here.

My girlfriend is American, and while I want to reduce how much I use American services, currently deleting accounts I no longer need or have found alternatives for, her birthday is coming up, and I want to send her some funds so she can get herself a gift.

I'd send her something on my own, however because of personal reasons, we've agreed not to exchange addresses until she feels comfortable with doing so. Slow buildup of trust sorta deal.

I've sent her money through PayPal before when we got each other gifts for Christmas and Valentine's, but I've been thinking quite heavily about deleting my PayPal account. Do I need to keep my PayPal account to send her funds, or am I able to do so still without an account? Are there perhaps any ways I can send the money over without using PayPal or other American services?

Thanks for any help in advance.

EDIT: Alright y'all, go ahead and downvote me. I know why we're not exchanging addresses, and I'm not going to fucking reveal my girlfriend's private life to appeal to y'all, so how about instead of getting into my personal life and assuming crap, you either give me an answer, or learn some basic reading comprehension and realise from my post this isn't a one-way street.

Just a reminder that a Conservative vote is literally a vote to destroy Canadian culture with their plans to defund the CBC.

[–] BinzyBoi@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Either is fine! I've posted I think one French song to date. Think it would be a good idea to tag it as Francophone however. Might add it to the sidebar to tag French music, but might give it more thought since while I do want to give attention to Francophone music, I also don't want things working the other way where people are purposely ignoring Francohpone music and musicians.

Article says everybody agrees on there not being any Canadian options, and it being a public safety issue. Framing it as "Conservatives are traitors, ammarite" is kinda gross here tbh.

Re-watching it, and yeah, has to be gagged. If you listen closely, there's a small "click" after what at first sounds like "gay", which is likely an "ed" sound.

I think he was trying to say "gagged" but it does sound like "gay" lol

Wish I could watch and see what specifically the video is about, but unfortunately on the bus and left my earbuds at home :(

In any case, not to self-promote, but I made this community little bit ago that I hope will help things out: https://lemmy.ca/c/maplemusic

I made this community about a week or so ago on the Lemmy.ca to help promote Canadian music and musicians. Been posting each day, with features in the community such as a ListenBrainz playlist for songs shared in the community, weekly featured artists, and weekly discussion posts (currently paused until Monday to sync it with the start of the week).

This is something I'm incredibly passionate about. Canada has a lot of music talent that is overlooked, and while the amount of Canadian music talent has done nothing but grow, the discoverability for Canadian musicians has faltered in recent years with the decline in local Canadian music publications.

Please come in and share tunes from Canadian musicians, inform people of music tours occurring in Canada, and showcase Canadian music news and magazine articles!

Been working on grabbing a few movies from online to download and save as more options for movie nights with friends on top of the DVDs and VHS tapes I have.

I'm aware one can find mentions on Wikipedia or the Internet Archive saying "oh this film is public domain", but the sourcing seems to be sketchy a lot of the time. Like a Wikipedia article will mention a movie is public domain, and then link to a site for public domain movies or the Internet Archive with neither stating why the film is public domain.

Is there a simple means to check for yourself the copyright status of movies? Would help a lot with having confidence in the collection of films I'm building up.

Man, what a cop-out.

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, more than happy to be pointed in the right direction if it doesn't.

I wanna do movie nights with friends where we watch movies together in the living room on my TV. I have a DVD player and VCR I got from the thrift shop as well as a few movies for both. However, I was thinking it would also be fun to expand the options available by downloading a bunch of public domain movies to play on the TV. Only issue is figuring how I'd work that all out.

The TV lacks any network connectivity features. While it has a USB slot, it can literally only detect pictures and set them up for slideshows. Even tried putting some video files on to test and it won't detect at all. Also because my computer is a desktop, connecting it directly to the TV from the other room is a no-go.

Is there some sort of device that serves this kind of purpose? Like something I can download videos to, and then connect it to my TV in a similar sense you would a DVD or VCR and be able to choose the content on the device using a remote? I'd really appreciate the help and pointers if this is something that exists.

Watched this all the time on Treehouse TV as a kid. Apparently it was originally on TVO? Crazy how I remember it so much despite it only having a single season apparently.

Figured I'd try promoting the community here. It's only been around a few days, but I would love to make this community an active and thriving one.

I just like Roblox for the social interaction of being able to chat and hang out with people online. I don't need the game to be quite like Roblox, just want a good social experience is all.

Was thinking of swapping to VRChat, but the annoyance there is that they're also American. Anything worth checking out?

So the other day I was in a conversation talking about the MP for my former riding, Greg McLean. I by no means am a Conservative voter, but of the Conservative MPs I can give respect to, Greg McLean is towards the top of the list considering the social issues he's worked on, and his engagement with the community.

I was checking out his website and shockingly found that he has a BlueSky has one of his social platforms. Not only that, but he also uses it regularly, posting multiple times per day. Now this could just be his publicity team rather than him directly, but it still caught me off guard in a positive way that it was a platform he utilized.

It had me thinking. What other MPs use BlueSky and/or Mastodon? I feel having a list would be a useful resource especially in asking other members of parliament by legitimizing the idea of providing a method of following them on social media without using X or Facebook.
