I’m armchair Freuding a bit, but I think that’s one of the reasons “Femdom” type pornos seem to be enjoyed by some men.

Like I totally get wanting a woman to take control. But the “femdom” stuff online tends to be degarding, straight up mean. (Which some people like and is okay, but it’s more mainstream than I’d imagine).

On my lemm.ee account I just kinda joined a hexbear conversation from /all without realising it was hexbear and got downvoted to hell and banned for being vaguely anti-authoritarian.

To be fair @ptz@dubvee.org

You’re doing an impossible job by trying to basically singlehandedly create a nice curated instance while removing all the bad stuff. Which honestly is amazing. But it’s not suprising to me that with that sort of workload you’re having a tough time and the charm of the lemmyverse is fading.

Edit: Holy shit I didn’t realise you’re shutting down dubvee (https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/28754411). Honestly, I think that’s a very fair choice on your part given the situation. Respect.🫡

Is there reason to assume the hexbear “offense” was bad faith and they contributed to lemm.ee’s decline.

Hexbear can ban you for not thinking Russia is doing good by invading ukraine. So I wouldn’t take a Hexbear ban very seriously.

Fluffernutter?

I barely even know her.

Yes. But phonetic languages phoneticise loanwords.

Ie. In Japanese the word “coffee” has bexome a loanword. But they don’t keep the unphoneticised english version. They phoneticise it to fit with their pronounciation and it becomes kohi.

(This is complicated of course by katakana and such but just an example. German tends to so the same, since it’s phonetic.)

Ie. German Kaffee from turkish kahve, or German Komputer from english computer

Fuck spelling norms.

Make English Phonetic Again!

Do you not understand the concept of a safe space?

When you’re literally one of the most politically targeted groups and create a community the point might not be to make it a “free speech zone” but the one place on the internet you feel safe.

That doesn’t make them authoritarian politically. They’re just admins following through on a vision. Where people can freely join their instance or not. Not politicians enforcing their views on people who didn’t consent to it.

Blahaj doesn’t pretend to be a neutral instance like lemmy.ml does. It’s explicit.

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 18 hours ago (4 children)

Youre mixing up moderation style and political ideology.

Blahaj is moderated to be a safe space for trans people. That means they remove anything remotely insulting or harmful. That’s their moderation policy. That doesn’t mean their political views are authoritarian.

Lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works and Feddit.org are the most centrist ones probably. They’re like liberal leftism while the rest of lemmy tends to be explicitly anti-capitalist.

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

Blahaj is explicitly anti-tankie. I mean look at the banner of !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone, so they are clearly lib left.

Whilst dbzer0 is literally explicitly anti-capitalist.

So both of those go lib left. Perhaps dbzer0 more lib and blahaj more left.

i think so. kbin was abandoned. mbin is the successor.

There’s a good reason for this, and it’s not (just) that their beliefs were insincere. The whole point of thinking about structures like capitalism, patriarchy, or white supremacy is recognizing structural power beyond the intentions or beliefs of any individual actor. The problem with capitalism isn’t that particular business owners are greedy, it’s that the system of private ownership requires exploitation and poverty. The problem with patriarchy isn’t that all men happen to be evil and all non-men happen to be saints. The problem is the system that secures wealth, power, and safety for one gender at the expense of others.

We should think about state power in the same systematic way. It’s true—some politicians are especially terrible, just like some bosses are particularly noxious and some men are exceptionally patriarchal. But there are structural reasons for all men to take advantage of the privileges of patriarchy, whether we’re personally bigoted or not. Similarly, there are structural forces pressuring leftists in elected office to abandon their positions, entirely independent of their degree of personal ideological commitment

Since the early morning of July 2, 2025, the community of Cherán K’eri has been under armed attack by unknown subjects seeking to enter the areas of Rancho del Pino and Cerrito del Aire. In response, our Community Round (autonomous security force established by our system of self-government) has resisted the aggression, activating the barricades to protect the population. At the moment, one person has been reported killed and another injured, both members of the Community Round. This fact fills us with indignation, sadness, and rage.

This attack is not an isolated act. It is part of an escalation of violence that has intensified in the state of Michoacán, where organized crime fights over territory with total impunity, seriously affecting rural and Indigenous communities. In recent weeks, the aggressions have intensified in different regions of the state, including the Purépecha Plateau, where communities like Nahuatzen, Arantepacua, Capácuaro, and Santa Fe de la Laguna have also been the target of threats, armed incursions, and territorial dispossession.

In our recently submitted grants we had to change “traumatic brain injury” to “concussive brain injury” and “male and female mice” to “male and non-male mice” because traumatic and female are now verboten words that can get our grants killed. It’s insanity.

SBS Insight Invisible Illness – Statement by 4 Studio Participants

Published: 23 June 2025

Invisible, Misrepresented, and Harmed: ME/CFS Voices Demand Accountability from SBS

A Joint Statement from Participants and Advocates in Response to the 20 May 2025 Episode of Insight

This statement has been prepared by a group of individuals who participated in the recent SBS Insight episode on invisible illness. We are united in our deep concern over how the episode was produced, edited, and presented and the serious harm it caused by misrepresenting Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) and its impact on the wider chronic illness community.

We believe this broadcast represents a clear breach of SBS’s own Code of Practice. The program:

  • Failed to uphold editorial integrity by platforming a participant with undisclosed commercial interests (Section 3.1: Editorial Independence and Integrity);
  • Presented medically inaccurate and misleading portrayals of ME/CFS (Section 3.2: Accuracy);
  • Minimised the diversity of lived experiences in favour of a single recovery narrative (Section 3.3: Diversity of Views and Perspectives);
  • Caused emotional harm to participants and viewers alike (Section 4.1: Harm and Offence);

As a public broadcaster, SBS has a duty to ensure ethical, accurate, and inclusive storytelling, especially when dealing with marginalised communities.

This is a screenshot of a bluesky post from “The Tennessee Holler” posted 12 hours ago. The post reads: “If you’re zip-tying grandmas protesting losing health care maybe you’re not the good guys in the story?” The post includes a repost from Joe G posted 2 hours ago that says “Arresting people in wheelchairs protesting Medicaid cuts.” Below the text is a video thumbnail showing what appears to be law enforcement officers restraining an elderly person in a wheelchair in what looks like a government building or office setting.
