Thry should make green hydrogen instead, if they cannot get their solar farm connected to the grid.

It will be cheaper than fossil fuels at some point in the future. The benefit of not being a finite resource. We can speed this process up if we scale up sooner rather than later.
The easy solution is to just make green hydrogen. It's an already solved problem, lacking only political will.
The problem with biomethane is that there isn't going to be enough of it.
Had California been more flexible, and adopted an "all-of-the-above" strategy, including ideas such as RNG, hydrogen (ICE and fuel cell based), they would be well on their way to zero emissions trucking by now.
This is mostly due to an AI boom. It will collapse once that goes bust.
