Hybrid work has been great for this. I can step away from my desk for 5 minutes to toss in laundry or vacuum etc. Dust or unload the dishwasher while on a call. I no longer have to spend half of my Saturday cleaning because my house is just always clean.

There is an incredibly graphic up-close video available. I strongly recommend that no one watches it. I consider myself very desensitized and it still made me sick.

I will provide a description:

Charlie is struck in the neck slightly to the side and his body immediately goes stiff. Blood gushes strongly from his neck - a liter at least. He slumps. It very much appears that he was immediately killed.

Why are you responding to a year and a half old comment? Lol

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Oh no. I worked so hard to be able to maintain eye contact in conversations (autistic) and now I'm questioning it.

A simulation could be hacked, and that's really fun to think about

I'm confused by the fuck/fight portion. Is it normal to want to fuck or fight every person who maintains eye contact? Have I been unknowingly threatening/coming into all of my work colleagues?

100%. I'm also trialing Copilot at a medium-sized corpo job and it saves me roughly 12-20 hours of work per week.

I use it often in PowerShell scripting. It occasionally hallucinates and makes up commands, so sometimes it takes a bit of back and forth to get it to do what I want, but it's still a hundred times easier than writing from scratch or tweaking+combining similar scripts I find online.

Probably my favorite part is being able to ask it "Where did I leave off with John on x issue last week?" And it will remind me that I'm supposed to do x and John is supposed to do y. Or even, "I helped a user with this specific issue six months ago. How did I fix it?" and it pulls the exact email and Teams chats outlining what we did, and I can click the link to open those messages and ensure it didn't misinterperate. Way easier than digging by hand.

Finally, I absolutely hate making PowerPoints so I've been having it make all of my rough drafts from transcription notes in meetings. Super nice time saver.

Something I'm concerned about and playing with this week is pronoun usage in transcripts. I'm working with our LGBTQ ERG to ensure that we can make Copilot use preferred pronouns for everyone. If it can't, we'll need to pull back certain features.

It's far from perfect but it genuinely makes my job a lot easier and I'd hate to lose it. I think it will only get better from here.

"Transgenders" is not a word. Please use "transgender people" or something similar.

I like it. Is the enemy a vampire or something like that?

That's a concerning situation. You might want to reach out to parents or friends to get you some help with cleaning. From the picture it looks concerningly dirty and messy - empty bottles, things on the floor, etc.

Why are you living like this?

I replaced the pads on my AKG Q701 headphones today for the 4th time. It made me realize that I've used these headphones for at least 40 hours a week for 14 years straight. I've had to repair the left side speaker solder joint a few times, but they're designed to be easily torn down and repaired. Truly BIFL headphones.

I've heard that the newer AKG K702 headphones are identical but I can't vouch for that. They go for around $250.

Hopefully this doesnt double-post, I accidentally uploaded the wrong picture before.

I snagged a 2025 Ioniq 5 to replace my 2021 Chevy Bolt yesterday and already put 150 miles on it. I'm kind of blown away and wanted to share some things that stood out.

  1. The car is wide. Much wider than the Bolt. Gonna take some getting used to.
  2. Not sure how I lived without a power lift gate until now. It was great when loading laundry and groceries into the trunk.
  3. The driver seat can lay completely flat - flatter than the zero gravity mode that you may have seen. Perfect for napping while waiting at the laundromat, and I'm looking forward to trying it while car camping.
  4. You can pull the car forward and backwards with the keyfob while standing outside of it. Already used it twice - once to pull out of a tight parking spot, once to center myself after street parking a bit crooked.
  5. The surround view is incredible. It made parallel parking an absolute breeze.
  6. Autopilot is scary but works. I was only brave enough to use it on the highway with no other cars around.
  7. Auto-parking doesn't seem to work very well, but I'll have to play around with it.

Overall I'm super happy with the car and keep looking for excuses to go somewhere. Happy to answer any questions.

I have a 70lb ebike that I love, but it's been difficult and dangerous to get it up and down the stairs to my apartment's basement bike storage room. The HOA refuses to install (or allow me to install) a bike ramp to make it easier. Any tricks or anything I can buy to accomplish this?

I haven't been able to see upvote counts since the latest update, and I saw a few other people mention the same issue. Is this on the radar to be fixed?

I've never taken a vacation, and I'm determined to take on this year in Spring. I'm in Pittsburgh area and would like to bring my dog along (he is too anxious for boarding or a dog sitter), and don't want to put him on an airplane. Any ideas?

The best I've been able to come up with is renting a small island with a cottage on the Great Lakes. My pup could run totally free on the island for a week and live his best life chasing squirrels and swimming. I'm not much of a nature fan, though, so it might be a bit boring.

Good feels rant post.

I had pretty much given up on romance as dating is nearly impossible as an older transguy. I managed to meet a nice geeky guy on a dating site and we chatted for a while. On our first date last night, he handed me a wrapped gift. "I saw this book and thought you'd like it." and it was a book in my favorite genre. "And I got a toy for your dog. I put it in my laundry for a day so he can get used to my scent before I meet him." Bros and sisters, my heart melted.

We ended up having a ridiculous fun time then making out in the snow, and it was super cheesy and cute and romantic.

Don't give up on love! Good folks are still out there. ❤️ Figured I'd share some positivity since the Earth is literally burning.

Is this considered spawn camping?

My neighborhood has a little free food pantry that I fill weekly. Problem is, I've been finding it difficult to provide a well-rounded variety of foods. Fresh fruit and veg are not allowed.

Any ideas for items I can stock? I try to keep each item under $2 to get the most bang for my buck.

My go-tos are:
*Rice.
*Oats.
*Beans, dried and canned (these usually go slowly)
*Baking mixes, flour, sugar, yeast.
*Canned veggies.
*Condensed soup.
*Oil.
*Evaporated milk.
*Condiments.
*Canned chicken, tuna, and salmon.
*Applesauce.
*Spices.

Thanks ahead of time for any ideas. Can't seem to get the formatting working on mobile but you get the gist.

I was perplexed by the question. What's the difference? They explained: "Should I tiptoe and watch my manners around you or be blunt? Flirtatious or chill? Brag about my sexual conquests or talk about our feelings? When you're sad, do I hug you and buy you ice cream or do we go grab some beers? Should I wonder if we'll ever hook up?"

I'm not sure if I'm more appalled or confused by this mindset. I thought everyone treated their friends the same regardless of their gender identity. Is this just a fringe case of toxic masculinity, or is this really how the average cis person sees the world?

I have a Plex server running on Mac OSX. Whenever I want to add media, I remotely connect into the Mac, login to my private tracker, download the torrent, wait for it to finish, then update my Plex library.

I'm hopeful that there's an easier way. I'm imagining a way I can remotely tell the Plex server what I want to watch and it takes it from there. Does such a thing exist?

I'm one person and won't have a fridge for a few weeks as mine died. I can't stomach any more canned soup. Any ideas for small meals I can make with shelf stable ingredients?
