My old PC seemed to only be able to handle shotcut it didn't have everything i wanted, but it had all the basic stuff you could need.

I think if you were going to really be getting into the weeds of video editing, you might want something better. I personally wasn't able to find ways to speed up certain editing functionality, which took up some extra time. Certain features are still being developed and worked on.

But at the time, I just needed a lightweight editor that my PC could handle, and it did the job well.

I followed this tutorial, and it helped me learn the ropes.

I've decided that I want to learn DaVinci at some point, but I've been frankly lazy in recent months and haven't been editing as much as I would like/should lol

I don't have anything good to contribute other than "The blood moon rises once again"

We use snagit at work and it has been ok? I think it's a paid application though

Haha glad I could help. ProZD was truly ahead of his time with Vine.

I looked at it, thought "it looks fairly average, I wonder what's unique about it"

I saw the price and my eyes went wide lol

The dangerous thing that I think AI and censorship cause is a lack of trust and feeling of cooperation within a nation. I believe it causes people to close themselves off and become distrustful of their government.

This might just be me projecting my own bias, but the rise of rampant misinformation and the general breakdown of society and the social safety net(or rather the breakdown of what minimal safety nets were there to begin with) has caused me to distrust and question anything I see. It has caused me to just double down my thinking based around my own personal worldview rather than accept what I am told or directly see.

It makes me a lot more resistant to go with the flow. I'm not sure if that's beneficial for a countries government or not. I can't see it being helpful, though, when I'm likely not going to believe what they tell me or view things with such high skepticism.

Edit: the one thing this could do though is if a group had enough information on a specific person is they could push misinfo to specific groups and people with a spin that they believe the targets would be more likely to fall for. For example, maybe I would be more likely to believe something negative about something that I already have a negative bias towards. If someone wanted to manipulate me further, they could customize or tailor that to manipulate me further.

I feel like I'm going into tinfoil hat territory, but at the same time I feel like it's probably not that far fetched. Maybe at some point I just go back to monkey and live in the woods lol.

I think if I was going to get a new keyboard, i would want to go one of two routes. Either super customizable, or go super silly overpriced. Have you seen that flux keyboard? It looks bonkers but it's like $500 - $600

People lacking empathy really messes with me. Stealing is obviously morally wrong, but to steal from someone who is obviously very sick is next level fucked up. I'm glad people helped this guy out in the end. Really sad story

I seem to still be getting a paywall on the no paywall link

This is, I think(?) the second time I'm hearing about this. I'm either not paying enough attention to canadian news, or it's not being covered here. That business shouldn't be allowed to mine there. I'm embarrassed that they would ruin our reputation like that, but at the same time, it seems the rich & powerful do that quite frequently nowadays.

It feels like there's a split in Canadian politics lately. Where are chunk of the liberals and the conservatives want to appease Trump and so they lick Israeli boot. But then there's a subsection that seem to want to push away from all of that.

I say that because certain press releases and other lower level politicians / government employees will word things in ways that certainly feel like they are not okay with what's going on, but then the rest of them are just kinda going with it.

There was a portion of the liberals that were pissed that Carney was trying to meet with the project 2025 people. But also wtf Carney seems to be showing his banker colors. It's a whole mess. Gotta keep putting pressure on them to do the right thing.

(Is there a more appropriate community to post this in?) Thank you in advance for any advice/help!

I've come across this build on PC part picker, but I was hoping someone could help me customize it a bit better for my needs. I'm going to be streaming, gaming, and editing videos on this machine.

I would like to future-proof the PC as much as I reasonably can (10-15 years' usage would be great).

My budget is probably around 2-3k CAD? I am over extending myself slightly, but I have used my PC daily for 12 years, and I figure if not now, when?

The only other thing I might consider is new monitors, but otherwise, I'll be reusing all my peripherals as those are more recently upgraded!

I was also thinking a better Nvidia card might be worthwhile? The main thing is I'm not familiar with how the parts work in terms of compatibility. That and electrical usage/needs from the power supply

Edit: are prebuilts any good nowadays? I'm not opposed to the idea. I know I could figure out assembly myself, but if there's something worthwhile, I wouldn't be opposed either.

Edit: Just want to say thank you for all the helpful advice and information. I ended up finding a PC that met my needs and then some!

What are your thoughts on this? Are you happy? Sad?

I'm extremely curious. If you asked me this as a kid, I would have been celebrating. I always thought games should be accessible to everyone. But now I'm questioning if Microsoft plans to keep the Xbox ecosystem alive.

Exclusive titles are/were the incentive to keep people on certain consoles. Currently, I think only gamepass and digital libraries would be the only reason to stay with Microsoft if they continue to make systems in the future.

Additionally, I'm curious as to how this could destabilize the market. With no direct competition for high end hardware (other than pc/the steam deck), Sony can kinda do whatever they please.

I feel like I've played a good amount of horror titles, and I find I don't really get scared much anymore.

What are some titles that scared you the most? I would love to hear your recommendations!
