What are they doing about the giant thread of fiberoptic leading back to them?

That's definitely true, but do you wanna risk being one of the 10s or 100s of thousands they do make an example of? They would definitely go after people for this. It wouldn't play out like weed did.

Does it not make sense to at least try to recover it to not expose it though or are they just abandoning it entirely and maybe leave it booby trapped if someone follows the cable?
