I bet they will be as good at being "the opposition" as they were at defending Roe v Wade, or being "the resistance."

Yea doing the right the thing for the wrong reason is unfortunately the only way things get done in america since forever.

While I'd love to just nationalize space-x that isn't even in the zeitgeist yet and Boeing has to be destroyed before such a thing is possible.

"YOU NEED A COMPUTER AND DEVELOPER OPTIONS ENABLED FOR THIS TO WORK. DEVELOPER OPTIONS CAN BE ENABLED ON THE PARENT APP."

So is this just a case where if you have a privileged user i.e. developer options, you can do things like change the time? Maybe i'm misunderstanding the way time-based features work, but surely they can be trivially bypassed by the child in a myriad number of ways if they have privileged access already?

Forbid food exports, problem solved. Americans can grow their own food and enjoy their own burgers on their own land just fine.

Why the focus on "efficiency" with food? The purpose of food in human culture goes way beyond caloric efficiency, and honestly caloric efficiency is the last thing we should consider when discussing food supplies. We don't want to, nor do we need to, get into a race to the bottom where we destroy all food culture because it turns out that eating bugs is the most space and resource efficient way to create food.

Not to mention the unspoken assumption when we start talking about food efficiency that the human population of earth should be maximized because we want to be efficient in our food consumption, therefore we should restrict our diet to the bare minimum so that we can support more people.

How much support did Alexandria Ocasio-cortez get from the DNC when she was running in the 2018 primary? Would you say it was more, less or the same as Joe Crowley?

[–] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

AHAHAHAHA. Of course liberals would do that.

Git is great. Git is Complicated. But assuming you have a protected master branch that requires PRs and will detect merge conflicts before attempting to merge, it's not really dangerous. It is however frustrating.

I don't think it's incompetence. After-all they have successful defended the corporate duopoly for at least 50 years, probably longer. Sure there are some upstarts, but the machinations of the party ensure those people never get to actually threaten the status quo. Plus they make good sound-bytes so that the democrats can talk about how they are "fighting," in unspecific ways.

Sounds like US democracy with the US voting system is deeply flawed and the only moral action is to no longer engage with it. Otherwise you are expected to choose between different approaches to an ongoing genocide.

the party

You mean the Democrats correct? Because the DNC (one of the funding arms of the blue party in the US) doesn't actually care about the issues "the party" cares about. They have their own agenda that involves making a lot of money for their big donors. Having a rotating villain like Manchin, Lieberman, Sinema, Fetterman is the best case scenario. Because it means they don't have to ever "actually" support things that would cost their donor's money.

they can vote with the Democrats.

Didn't the democrats have a majority a few years ago, what did they do with that and why do you think they will do anything different this time?
