If you know what constitutes good code you probably won't be browsing for tutorials. Tutorials, even the bad ones, are useful for beginners. If you aren't a beginner, don't look for them and you won't be so pissed by it.

You talk like you are a professional, but professionals know where to look and where to not look for reliable information.

I avoid things from dev.to and Medium like the plague, unless I can't find anything, anywhere else. However, something that's shitty for you might not be shitty to someone else.

It will just get worse with all the AI slop. Read the docs first, always.

First thing I noticed is that your navbar links don't behave like links. This might be related why reloading the page takes you to the main page. Are you using react-router? You might no be using it correctly

Is it normal to doxx yourself putting your address online these days? Isn't it better to have the city you are located?

I wouldn't link to all my social networks on my professional page, unless you are 100% sure you aren't saying anything that might make the recruiter be biased.

Having a PDF like someone else mentioned! Resumes usually go past RH people and they are never willing to look more than 10 seconds for the information they need.

Telegram isn't E2E encrypted unless you use secret chats. Even WhatsApp is better than that.

Sima (Simona Vetter) quotes "Being toxic on the right side of an argument is still toxic, [...]" while being toxic

If you are replying with "isn't this the guy" it means you didn't bother to read the post, which also removes the merits of you questioning if what he is claiming is fiction or not.

But people on HN provided context and it indeed seem he was stalked and harassed, but through his VTuber persona and there was even a GDocs document with the details.

Edit: His VTuber persona is Asahi Lina

The difference is that if you have your files you still can play the games if GoG goes under, while steam games will be unplayable because they need to communicate to steam (or have steam offline on your PC). I heard that steam drm is easy to remove but I don't have much knowledge in that regard

I was fine with the wallpapers until the AI rocket

Yes I read the whole thread and the lack of replies on his part were kind of infuriating

Damn, Linus really went out of his way to say:

How about you accept the fact that maybe the problem is you. You think you know better. But the current process works. It has problems, but problems are a fact of life. There is no perfect. However, I will say that the social media brigading just makes me not want to have anything at all to do with your approach. Because if we have issues in the kernel development model, then social media sure as hell isn't the solution. The same way it sure as hell wasn't the solution to politics. Technical patches and discussions matter. Social media brigading - no than\k you.

First of all, thank you for the reply. I always wondered if we could use our Steam Deck for pretty much everything since we have a dock plugged on our TV, but since we have been using the Nvidia Shield Pro as our media player for more than 5 years, I didn't get out of my way to inform myself.

The Shield Pro was amazing at the start, until the stock launcher started showing ads (we currently avoid them by using an app for Android TVs called Productivity Launcher).

You must ensure you’re using a client that can use the codec in question

Yeah, this is the reason we had to stop using Jellyfin client and switched to Kodi. I think the jellyfin didn't have support for pass through for the codec our movie was using and Kodi worked fine.

Is there a specific codec you’re concerned about losing access to?

Mainly Douby Atmos/Vision and such. We currently have our 4k TV connected with eARC to our Soundbar and the soundbar connected to the Shield. The only other thing we connected to the soundbar was our Nintendo Switch dock since I couldn't make surround work otherwise. PS5 surround works fine connected to the TV and I think SD does too (I will need to test it later because I am unsure and I can't remember).

Thinking about it now I think I do need to at least setup a way to play our stuff from Jellyfin on our SDs using Tailscale, this way we can access our stuff while traveling. At this moment we only access it away from home from our phones to listen to music.

Since a few days ago when I updated my system, I noticed that I was unable to paste anything while using Code - OSS. It seems an issue caused by the newer Electron version.

On the issue page there are a few solutions listed already.

I'm posting this in case someone is having the same issue and might be wondering what is going on.

Since we started paying for Proton Pass I noticed that a few websites do not allow you to use the generated e-mail. Two that come to mind are Atlassian and Discogs. Has anyone figured our a way to go around this?

spoilerIt seems the Honey Coupon extension wasn't just making money by tracking purchases from users, but also by taking credit for the sales for PayPal (since they are owned by it) by changing your local cookies. Pretty shady if you ask me.

Anyone else doing it? I am doing the first 3 days today to catch up. Just finished the first one!

Doing it with Rust to get more familiar with it. If anyone wants to talk about specific puzzles, we can do it using spoiler tags!

I am not the author.

I love how creative this is. The CSS usage in this is wild!

(Please make sure you read it until the end)

I have ADHD and have issues focusing on what I have to get done.

I am searching for a app such as this one where I can focus for a specific amount of time (like a pomodoro) but that stays on top of other apps. Does anyone know any FOSS app that is able to do such thing?

I am currently using Logseq with the Pomodoro timer plug-in.

In addition, what apps are you currently using for productivity? I am not talking about specific work tools like code editors. I currently use Logseq/Anytype (trying to transfer a few things to Anytype as it has support for templates). I tried using Vikunja but I didn't like it very much, we still use it for home management as it has support for recurring tasks.

We currently pay for the Family plan as a couple so this will be good for us. I tried downgrading but it still doesn't appear for me.

It seems YT started another attempt at blocking alternative clients. They changed something in their API and both SmartTube and Tubular (NewPipe fork) are completely broken. Apparently it started happening this past week, but we personally just felt it today.

Edit: SmartTube already has an update but still not working for 4K videos it seems. Tubular still not working but it might be due to the upstream (NewPipe) is still working on a fix.
