But the point isn't to see everything. The feeling of FOMO is what's seems to drive people to madness. For a game that's been developed for over a decade with multiple cycles of content release every year; I'm not surprised that people don't get a chance to see everything. I see that as a positive and not a negative.

Other games do similar things. I play a lot of Dead Cells and can't get beyond 4BC. Most people will never get to end game content to see all bosses or unlock all items. Who cares. As long as the game is fun.

My first play through of PoE was with no guides. I made it up as I went along. Had a terrible "build". I enjoyed taking weeks to get through the campaign slowly and reading all the lore. Every league I played, I got deeper and deeper into the content....learning to make tons of currency, getting a character to lvl 100, etc. It has been great playing it off and on. The game is fun without experiencing "everything". But if I ever engaged with the online community, all I would hear is "I've played 3000 hours and this game is shit".

Path of Exile

Good fun game, but online communities are committing to min/max the fun out out of it. I like blowing up monsters, I don't care about optimising my chaos-per-hour rate.

I want to support an EU company and the eco mission, but I also want privacy. I used to use Brave but I want to move away from that and still avoid leaking my data to Google.

I changed to Ecosia when I last saw this chart. It's working really well and is my main search engine across all my devices now.

But now I'm considering moving to Mojeek if that's better for privacy.

Cool. It's a good service.

Searching/surfing YouTube is like searching/surfing Imgur. It's a site for content hosting so you can link from other places. You have to go to online communities to find links to good videos.

There are good channels that are worth subscribing to, but going to YouTube directly is like trudging though a swamp.

I've been with them for years and they've been awesome. Customer support was good when I was having trouble setting up my custom domain. Their web interface dose look a bit retro, but I never use that anyway (email in Thunderbird and online drive accessed with WebDAV, calendar and contact access in phone apps).

MailBox has been great as a single solution to get rid of all Google services from my phone (including contact/calendar sync). Highly recommended.

Shit dude, that sounds terrible with people giving you attitude for mobility aids.

I haven't tried clubs (book club, warhammer, etc) and haven't tried hobby classes.

I've had postgraduate formal classes, but that had mature students who had young families that they were keen to get back to (rather than hanging out).

I'm at a similar age and have similar interests. I've not been successful. I've done what others suggest, but not many people are making a genuine connection. Meetup.com ends up being an activity for the meet up and not connection outside. Conventions and gaming makes people get together for the event.....but again little interest outside that.

Some of this might be a skill issue. Some of this has to do with how incredibly socially reserved the British are (all my ongoing friendships are with non-British people while living in England, because they're the ones who will accept invites and meet up again). Some of this has to do with having interests that hardly anyone shares IRL.

I've seen posts like this before on Lemmy and people even said they were interested in a chat channel to start a social group here, so I made one and no one joined.

Good luck. I'm interested in reading the other replies you get.

irresponsible to bring kids into this world

Completely disagree with this stance.

There has never been a time in history when the world hasn't been on the brink of disaster. My parents faced a world with the constant threat of nuclear war, HIV being a new unstoppable and untreatable terrifying catastrophe and relentlessly rising violent crime till the end of the 90s (all of these issues now are arguably well managed). They still had me and gave me a good life and I would argue that my parents and I are contributing significantly to make the world better regularly. We now have better healthcare, food and resource than any time in history. It's very self centred to think the major problems we are experiencing now are "the worst ever" and insurmountable.

Sure humans have made terrible systems that have led to a global climate disaster and terrible inequality.....but the answer to that is not to stop having children. Sure the global population needs to go down to a sustainable level, but it's happening way too fast in Japan and Korea and is a disaster in itself there.

There have always been people in impoverished parts of the world with absolute deprivation and no hope....they are not irresponsible for having children. A right to family life is a human right. Compared to most of the global population, most people online here are living like royalty. Everyone is presumed to be capable of having a family until proven otherwise.

Stop listening to idiots online. Good luck with your future.
