I never notice a performance difference. Just that (for whatever reason) some versions are more stable with certain games

In my experience most people dont even know FOSS exists. Hell, I've asked several coworkers and friends if they know what "open source" is and they just look at me confused. All of them are shocked to learn there's free software just out there waiting to be enjoyed
I'm not sure about unreal, but installing godot was pretty easy. That said if you end up needing to install any languages, tools, etc OSTree makes it a PITA
Yeah that's how it starts. Each change is never a "big deal" until it's suddenly a very big deal.
