I know quite a few minorities that would disagree with you. Also I think a lot of people in poverty probably have a better now with the institutions and systems we have then they were in the 90s when after they had been gutted by the Reagan Administration and not restored by the Bush Administration or the Clinton administration.

I think that's a good start if electoralism can get us that far. That does sound a whole lot better than the way we have it now

Fair enough. At least remember what the stoics have said. Shift in perspective can make a depressed man happy. I like to qualify stoicism as "finding happiness in misery"

An important lesson from Epictetus that even in the most dire circumstances ( he was a slave to a cruel master) you can still choose to be happy. Happiness is dependent on the state of mind not your material conditions according to him although he might be taking it a wee bit far.

I mean you're just objectively wrong then 🤷

True irreparable harm has been done to the world through climate change.

But I see a second wave of people's revolutions coming. Hopefully it'll be in time to react to the changes of the world.

Even in Hopeless times we must have hope comrade.

That is exactly how it's intended to be read 😃

Oh I didn't say that. The world could be a lot better.

Only that we generally live in the best time historically wise. Most of us have a roof over our heads and steady food in our bellies which is not historically how things have been.

It's foolish to try and look back in history for a better time because there is none. It is up to us to create a better future going forward.

Oh 100% I agree. We do live in trying times. But we also live in probably the best time to be alive at least if you live in the western world.

I just want to bring some context from the past because when you look at history we're doing quite a bit better than we used to.

While the no Kings protest didn't really achieve a whole lot mobilizing up to 10 million people is a huge achievement and not one that many organizations could have dreamed of doing 50 years ago.

I like self checkout. I struggle with talking to people and it can really drain on me so it's a godsend to have if I only need to run in for a few things.

People are using it to steal because people can't afford the basic necessities anymore and we've lost a shit ton of our purchasing power.

Yeah it's not like our ancestors went through two world wars in a period of 20 years along with the first Global economic depression or anything like that, and the realization that Humanity can now wipe itself off the planet.

No it's definitely us that lives through the most interesting time

Just because we know it won't get through doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying to push impeachment articles as often as possible.

I mean it only took like two or three Democrat deaths to swing the house in the Republican direction so that the Republicans can get some shit through that could always happen the other way around because the gerontocracy is on both sides

He was dying. He had been on his back for 24 hours. I picked him up out of the fish tank and he could barely move. I dropped him in this fish tank in the pipes so that he could find some protection from the mollies.

And he bounced right back. He's still a little slow but he's making his way around the tank on all of his legs now. And he's able to give off enough of the threat display that the Molly's leave him alone.

I really need to go through and figure out all of the parameters of this tank.

Got these guys about a month ago and have tried to move them to a couple of my various tanks in my house and they always struggle so for now they live in the magic quarantine box that keeps everything alive.

I also got a dwarf crayfish I threw in my cold water tank where there are other dwarf crayfish living. And it started having serious struggles so I put it in this tank and it popped right back up and seems to be doing okay.

The secret is apparently a tablespoon of sea salt for every 3 gallons of water....

Stupid magic mystery box that seems to keep everything alive.

Never seen a nerite snail eat pre-made fish food. These come from NorthFin which I heard quite a few people in the aquarium Community claim is some of the best food and in my mind this is confirmation because I've never seen nerite snail eat anything other than tank algae.

Thought you guys would just appreciate!
