It's so common there are memes about this.

There are certain times when opinions are too vile. If someone says gay marriage shouldn't exist, or that drag queens are grooming children, or that transwomen are transitioning just so they can win at sports, that clearly comes from a place of complete misunderstanding so ingrained that I couldn't be around them much.

These are reasonably common positions even among the "moderate" right.

I think there are some programming teams where you basically hire the whole team as a group. Which seems like a pretty good idea to me. Especially if you have one guy who is halfway decent at presenting all the neurodivergents who are really good at what they do, but can't pass a job interview to save their life.

Eh . . . depends. Ever read the WikiPedia page on Hanged, drawn, and quartered?

Bit of a story, and I'm going somewhere with this.

I grew up a Jehovah's Witness. They have all sorts of internal propaganda about how JWs are the happiest people on earth. You must be, because after all this sacrifice, you're going to be in Paradise™ forever and pet lions. That's what they want to do. Pet lions all day. I'm only kinda joking. Other exJWs will know exactly what I mean.

Anyway, there was a period where I was planning my exit strategy. Since they strongly discourage having any kind of relationships outside of the religion besides strictly business ones, I had to have a plan where I would have some kind of personal social net while keeping it a secret from everyone on the inside. Largely succeeded; I met someone who I eventually married, and made a bunch of other new friends as well. Nobody knew a thing until the day I publicly said I wasn't going to do it anymore. When I say that I was an attendant in the Hall at my very last meeting, other exJWs will also know what that means.

To come around to my point, during that whole period, an elder came up to me and said "you know, you seem happier of late". Which was true, and he had no idea whatsoever how damning that comment was.

The writers of "The Ethical Slut" advocate for a very broad definition of having sex. They even have a (tongue-in-cheek) bit where they say that by reading the book, you and the authors are engaging in a form of having sex.

I'm not sure I totally agree with going that far, but I do think a broad definition is better.

It's not a big deal, except that now you know it's not a big deal. When people are hung up about it, releasing that can be a help.

It probably works better, and yes, it has other purposes, too. But do you need it to tell you this?

Do people need an app to tell them they're horny?

This is like the old mood ring craze. For starters, they measure skin temperature. Does skin temperature correlate with mood? Kinda. Sorta. Not really. But let's assume they work. Do you need a ring to tell you what you're feeling? Maybe that's a sign in itself that you have a poor connection with your emotional state.

Could they even work as a tool to help build that internal emotional attachment? Assuming they work at all, maybe. I don't think people used them that way. Would the app do any better? Maybe.

Part of the reason for a command line is being able to reproduce commands exactly. Going back through the command history is an important part of that.

Jesus. You can get a grand jury to indict on anything. If you tried three times and failed, then maybe find a new line of work.

He's been using the line "lots of people are saying" for a long time to say how great he is. Check out this old Barbara Walters interview: https://youtu.be/mW1NPLeTf_c

Trump: The plaza is a very valuable property. Everybody told me, Oh, you paid too much. You paid too much. Now they're all saying what a great deal he made.

Barbara: No they're not.

I love the look on his face when she says that. Today he'd probably pivot into saying how unfair that is, and maybe mention her vagina being dirty or something. Back then, he had to sit and take the fact that his bullshit was called out and he's has nothing.

This was in 1990. He bought the New York Plaza hotel in 1988 for $390M. By 1992, it was $550M in debt and was in bankruptcy.
