I would take it a step further. Unless you are ready to do all your own repairs, buy from a company with a dealer network and a location near you.
edit: I hear you thinking "but for that same price I could buy two cheap Chinese import ebikes." Yes, and they will both be collecting dust inside a year unless you fix them yourself.
I have a "1500W" mid-drive and it lasts maybe 6 months, if I don't fuck up and shift under load. I do need to clean it more but... Next ebike is gonna be a belt drive.

So then people without ad blockers are shown even more ads. So then more people start to use more and more aggressive adblockers to deal with i truaivw ads, so corpos display more ads...and so on and so on.
My point is that we have tried your suggestion. The Internet in 1998 was very different.
