I've been thinking. Android implements app permissions on top of Linux, Flatpak does it too. But why is it it's not part of the kernel?

Like all executable files would be sandboxed and would only be able to access syscalls and parts of the file system if they were allowed to. Making sandboxing the default instead of having to restrict programs.

I'm not a kernel developper so this question may be naive, but it bothers my mind. I guess part of it is because of historical reasons but are there any practical ones that make it not feasable?

EDIT : Thank you all for your answers, almost all of you were very nice and explained things clearly

Well, it's also important to note that the variability is high so the prediction for a single individual won't be of much use

Wow, just wow.

My first reaction was disdain, but I think we at least need to wait for the actual proposal to form an opinion.

I don't know, but I don't think hydrochloric acid would be able to break down plastics. However, maybe we could find enzymes that would be able to.

I found this article that says we already have but they don't work at ambient temperature : https://news.utexas.edu/2022/04/27/plastic-eating-enzyme-could-eliminate-billions-of-tons-of-landfill-waste/

Also this one that talks about the subject : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167779921000408
