Canada's one might look, a bit odd like that

Relevant bit

Over the weekend, Spencer sat down for a lengthy interview with XboxEra in which he discussed his favorite games, talked about what various Xbox studios are working on, and dished on the industry at large. And he was also honest about Xbox no longer being part of any console war, as it shifts to selling Xbox games on other consoles, like PlayStation.

“I would love to make all of the money for all of the games that we ship, right? Like, obviously we make more on our own platform,” said Spencer. “It’s one of the reasons that investing in our own platform is important. But there are people, whether it’s their libraries on a PlayStation or Nintendo, whether it’s they like the controller better, they just like the games that are there.”

“I’m not trying to move them all over to Xbox anymore,” added Spencer.

Now, I don’t expect that to mean the sudden cessation of manufacturing of current Xbox hardware. I’m not entirely sure I believe that any of this means we won’t get another generation of the console at some point, either.

But I can see that happening. And everyone can already see how Microsoft has begun to pivot away from focusing on its console, has begun a far greater foray into cloud gaming through the Xbox Game Pass platform, and it has even begun moving away from the exclusivity we wrung our hands over months ago

Generally it's just better to ask, even if you were legally / ethically / morally in the clear.

  • if someone doesn't want it, it's going to turn them against peertube / fediverse platforms
  • they might not understand what it is, and use their platform to share those feelings

Meanwhile if someone DOES want it, letting them know will give them the option to do it themselves. It makes less work for you, and they will feel invested. If they want it and they don't want to upload it themselves, at the very least they'll let their viewers know that peertube is an option.

As for the legal/moral side, I still feel like there's a reason why you shouldn't do this but I'm not aware of what that might be.

This actually does seem to work. Vancouver has a LOT of parks, and I don't find them crowded or underutilized. It's a nice balance where there are people to talk to but you can find your own quiet spot too

https://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/parks-gardens-and-beaches.aspx

Apparently we have 250 parks, making up 11% of Vancouver's land mass

Sure, but that makes it unhelpful as a source if it always picks the null hypothesis (for lack of a better way to describe what it's doing)

The AI chats don't seem to give a straight answer on ANY issue. They always give a waffle-y answer that tries to account for 'both sides'

Thank you! I've edited the post now

I see a few for specific OS's and VM related tools on lemmyverse.net, or smaller ones: !vfio@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Depending on what you're looking for, you could cross post to a community like !selfhosted@lemmy.world or !programming@programming.dev to get more feedback

Well, they also expand on why they're saying that.

Also privacyguides is a non-profit, and they're not trying to sell you anything by pushing a certain viewpoint if that's the concern

Yup, that seems to be in line with the article

Male birds-of-paradise often have these patches next to stark black [or] dark plumage, so the added effect of biofluorescence may aid in making these signal areas even brighter while being used during displays,” added Martin.

For the camouflage side, they said this

In females, however, the phenomenon might have a different function. “The location and patterns of their biofluorescent plumage of many species are much more in line with its possible use as camouflage,” she said.

I'm curious what that refers to. Maybe it would look like sunlight filtering through the leaves?

Flashpoint Archive is a community effort to preserve games and animations from the web.

Internet history and culture is important, and the web is evolving at such a rapid pace that what might be commonplace today could be obsolete tomorrow. This project is dedicated to preserving as many experiences from these platforms as possible, so that they aren't lost to time. Since December 2017, over 200,000 games and animations have been preserved across more than a hundred browser plugins and web technologies.

I mashed my keyboard and that Wikipedia article came up.

We've been working on these for some time, and with the recent uptick in signups, we tried to finish up the first few pages so that new users could use them.

You can find them all on fedecan.ca under Guides & Resources. For those that are not familiar, this is the website for the non-profit (Fedecan) that manages lemmy.ca.

We're planning to gather some feedback on the technical Fediverse communities first, before sharing the guides more broadly, in order to catch any issues early.

If you want to add to them, feel free to reach out, and we can help you coordinate if someone else is also working on it.

The new sections:

Sections that are incomplete and relevant to new users. We have some work in progress for these, and hope to have them out soon:

A previously written section that didn't get posted about yet (thank you to Rooki):

Future plans include

  • Guides for Moderators
    • Set up a new community (best practices for name, sidebar, image, banner, and getting it federated outwards)
    • Moderation Best Practices
  • Guides for Admins
    • Information on our infrastructure and setup
