it was definitely murder:
a. showers don’t have cameras, so people commit violence there
b. very limited time in the showers with guards usually watching or at least nearby….

it feels like a weird departure from previous eu policies protecting privacy and right to repair… i was really happy when the forced apple to have an alternative store, and forcing phone companies to have a universal charger…
as an american, i was jealous of a lot of these….
forcing a company to lock a phone down more doesn’t make sense with that….

i guess you can still buy a phone with an unlocked boot loader from america and switch over the sim….
or buy one of them pure linux phones like pinePhone…. but that probably still sucks for non-coders….
….
also, incidentally, iPhone and the Pixel have both proven to be difficult for the police to extract information from, probably largely due to full integration of software and hardware…
i wonder if they finally worked out a good back door deal with apple….

of course, but what’s their rationalization?

what’s the point of them banning this anyways?

we thought that’s what an emergency contact is?

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

nope….
however, “in case of emergency, i have a pet at home alone”: is pretty important….
e.g. i’m adding my pet to my list of emergency contacts on my phone now… they’ll figure it out.

the whole “believe victims” thing is a trap… presenting a false dilemma to disbelieve or believe them….
but in a reasonable world, a victim’s testimony is evidence but not proof… evidence is enough to investigate and look for proof, and enough witnesses becomes as good as proof.
when you have someone as powerful as a president, there will always be a lot of liars… it’s just the law of large numbers, so the burden of proof becomes higher.
also, all reasonable people know that trump is a rapist and a pedophile by now, we just need proof to force people to admit it.

actually a really good idea if you live alone with pets…
like, if i get hit by a truck i don’t want my dog to starve to death….
