I'm not just saying this because you said you're a woman but I liked https://nostarch.com/smartgirlsguide

For my friends with kids about to use the internet without restriction I've been getting them copies so they have something to refer to if they need it. It's a good overview and leads to books better suited for specific topics.

The books from this guy have also been pretty helpful: https://inteltechniques.com/books.html

I like both of my laptops so far but have mixed feelings on both. I know it's not a lot to go on but here's been my experience so far. Dell XPS 15 and my new framework. Sorry, don't know the model name.

Two days ago I received a framework laptop for work but haven't been able to test anything other than installing Kubuntu. It was shipped to me from my employer so they had the final say in how it was configured but a few things went wrong. Not sure whose fault it was but in the end it's still fine. I configured it to have a mix of usb-c and usb-a ports, 3.5mm audio, and display port. It came with six usb-c modules. Fine. I can live with that. The thing that really made me mad was that I requested a keyboard with no Windows key and to have no OS installed. It came with Windows 11 installed and had the Windows key on the keyboard. I don't know who messed up but I'm not mad enough to do or say anything about. I do like that repairs and changes on this machine will be easier/possible. Oh...audio worked right away too so that was nice. Already better than the Dell XPS I bought with my own money and has crackling audio due to hardware not software issues. Works fine through an audio interface but the speakers sound like ass. I should have returned that machine right away.

Kind of sad to see this.

I was just told about this and plan to get one.

They also get an visual indicator from the flowers we can't see. The bees just need a rough map to the area. Check this shit out: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/flowers-manipulate-light-to-send-secret-signals-bees-180965316/

This explains the waggle dance in a way I like: https://beeprofessor.com/waggle-dance/

More cool info about bees. Bee lifecycles, how queens are made and supercedure are my favorite topics.

Oops.. I'm really bad at checking notifications.

The Steam Deck definitely isn't the ideal way to use VCV because of the screen size but the touch screen does make it easier to pan around. It runs well enough but I haven't really pushed it too hard with tons of modules running.

That midimix looks perfect for what I want to do. Definitely getting that before I build a physical rack. It would be nice to use this for mixing in Reaper as well. I'll get one and try it out with my Steam Deck.

I don't know why I get suggestions for flat earth and anti-evolution videos but I like watching them because I learn a lot. My guess is that because of my interest in comedy videos I discovered "Patti Reviews Exotic Animals". From there I got" Clint's Reptiles". He is a a theist that accepts and explains evolution. I never doubted it but never took the time to learn what it was all about.

Then I get "Professor Dave Explains". He's fantastic. So many good science videos. So many videos where he puts an end to the dumbest ideas I've never even heard of. Do I need to learn how to argue with a creationist? No, but now I know how.

"Gutsick Gibbon" is awesome. Hers are on the larger side so I haven't seen them all but she's got great science education.

The last one I'll mention is "Lindsay Nikole" because she's my second favorite. If you want to know about the history of life on Earth then she's the best. Why isn't she my first favorite? It's because I don't have a favorite and I want her name to stick in you mind when you go to search youtube for things to watch. You'll notice she has guitars on her wall and I someday I hope to get her on a music project. I write songs about bugs and need her to get on at least one of them in some way. That would be cool as fuck.

Another heads up: this is an installer and requires iLok to activate. I made an account to get the license but I'm avoiding any plugin that requires iLok until I can get that process to work with fewer issues. Sometimes the plugins just won't load or require me opening and logging into iLok.

Would love to be using this plugin on my stuff though so thanks for posting. Does anyone have recommendations on situations this compressor excels at? Any situations you'd avoid using it?

Using it in a DAW for free was my initial reason but I liked using it more standalone on my Steam Deck so I could have something to mess with when not at home. A lot of what I've done with Cardinal is making the weirdest noises I can and trying to make generative tracks. I'm not sure I've ever recorded something I made but I do learn a lot about synths when I experiment with this stuff. When I go back to other softsynths I feel like I'm tweaking settings with a bit more knowledge and with more intention instead of just twisting randomly.

What are you using for external controllers? I should probably get into that as a next step.

Yeah, I use Cardinal sometimes. I spent a few months getting really into and then nearly buying physical hardware and ruining myself financially. I'll have funding soon so I'm excited to get back into it and develop a minimal set in Cardinal then build it out in real life.

Do you have a comment on the Taylor Swift vs. Brent Farve situation?

Okay, but the important question becomes: what does that bastard land in/on? I vote for a pool of sharks because of Shark Tank.
