Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must begin with TIL. Linking to a source of info is optional, but highly recommended as it helps to spark discussion.

** Posts must be about an actual fact that you have learned, but it doesn't matter if you learned it today. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.**

Rule 2- Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding non-TIL posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-TIL posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

For further explanation, clarification and feedback about this rule, you may follow this link.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

He tries so hard to be cool.

Why do billionaires NEED to be liked so badly? Is it because they don't trust that anyone in their life likes them for who they are, instead of their money? Maybe, it's because their own kids and wives hate them?

Can get you saint hood if you housed millions.

[–] Okokimup@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

You can at least go to the medium place.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We can't imagine what it's like to be that obscenely wealthy. Logic would state that it works the other way too. They have very little concept of humanity in general. You and I would be the same if no one in the world could tell us "no". It's a form of psychosis, in my humble opinion.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 21 hours ago

That's... weird to think about.

He probably thinks he's generally a "good" person, and making the world a better place, buy just that people misunderstand him. That's wild. Fuck I really want to know to what extent he actually believes this.

I guess being a billionaire would be quite isolating. It might feel like you're the only member of your species. There's primitive monkeys you can interact with and some of them pretend to like you, but none of them really feel you or care about you.

Reflexive markets need faith....not good ideas or people.

Nah this isn't autism. Autism has issues understanding human social rules.

He understands just fine given his manipulations, he just doesn't care and actively works to smash them. That's sociopathy

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip -4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, I'm almost certain it is Autism. You don't need to like Facebook or Zuck as a person. (Please don't) But it is inappropriate to poke at his real struggles. I think he is the classic example of money can't buy happiness. (Or empathy)

[–] 9bananas@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

a lack of empathy is literally the defining trait of sociopathy.

autistic people DO have empathy for fucks sake. they (we) just have trouble with unclear social cues, but understand and have emotions just fine.

zuck, musk, and the rest are sociopaths; not autistic. (they probably could be both, but the autism is definitely not the issue here...)

zuck, musk, and so on use autism as an excuse and shield against criticism, because, in their minds, it absolves them having to change their behavior. "that's just how they are" - fuck no, that's not how autistic people act or behave at all!

it's INSANELY damaging to actual autistic people to go around saying people clearly displaying traits of sociopaths are autistic.

FUCK OFF with that shit.

[–] Juliee@lemm.ee -3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

They are clearly spergs AND billionaires. It looks like such a combination is especially not photogenic

What is funny here, in this post, is their autistic traits and media clumsiness that is so characteristic for rich neurodivergents (as non rich people generally are not in any media obviously)

Hence the post focuses on the spectrum traits and it will be discussed from such angle naturally if we see them

If they were some poor autistic sob from Andalusia then we just would have to rein in our remarks but for billionaires it’s a free game to harass them for any reason. That’s what we agreed upon

Therefore we harass them for autistic displays in media as it is very easy but we must pretend that this is not autism to stay coherent in our moral righteousness and not evoke cognitive dissonance

[–] Decoy321@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

Just going to go on record here. It's not okay to harass anyone here because they're autistic. We're not opening this door, it gets ugly real quick. Further commentary will result in comment removal and potential bans.

No, it doesn't matter if they're billionaires. There's plenty of actual reasons you can give them shit. Don't touch autism or any other form of hate speech.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I have no idea what I just read.

Are you saying that we harass billionaires? I'm not sure I like the word harass as that seems almost like stalking. Instead we can make fun of them when they make dumb choices and hold them accountable for there actions.
