Presidential candidates must submit a list of their prospective vice-presidents for sport, which must be selected from each of the FIA's six global regions.

But the world council list contains only one candidate from South America, Brazilian Fabiana Ecclestone, wife of former F1 boss Bernie. She is already a member of Ben Sulayem's team.

That prevents any other candidate from naming a potential vice-president for sport from South America, which means no-one else can enter the election.

What a fucking stupid Catch-22.

Stupid? It's a brilliant bit of bureaucracy. It sounds like it should be illegal, but provided it isn't it's a great bit of fake democracy from MBS.

Nothing to do with MBS. These rules have been in place for years. And an incumbent president has never lost a re-election.

Sure is weird fans weren't upset when British Max Moseley and French John Todt were presidents and the same thing happened. But Emirati Mohammed Ben Sulayem does.

They were though. It’s not good to try to stir shit up for no reason.

No one was claiming they were a fake democracy like MBS gets
