Is there any other meaning..?

[–] josephc@lemmy.ml 244 points 4 days ago (7 children)

I had to noodle on this one for a while and ask around. I think, and this is only a guess, that this might be "consensual non-consent", which is a role play of sexual assault.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 204 points 4 days ago (5 children)

Wait so not command and conquer?

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 65 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Red Alert was such great times.

Well I got a new tablet wallpaper

Same it's going right on the CRT. Goodbye Degurechaff and Cain. Hello Soviet Tim Curry.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

I say this in his voice all the time. This is my new favorite picture.

GREAT theme music riff.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 38 points 4 days ago

The safe word is "Tiberium."

[–] varyingExpertise@feddit.org 19 points 4 days ago

Well, usually all parties taking party in a Command and Conquer match have consented to do so but what happens then usually involves quite a bit of non-consent.

[–] foofiepie@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Ah nostalgia. Please tell me there’s a Linux port of this.

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Im addicted to general zero hour, you can buy the cnc collection on steam and it runs fine.

I wish EA wasn't so shit at programming, it crashes if you minimize the window. Or has a mismatch if theres to many units on the ground.

Theres mods to fix issues, but i cant figure out how to make it work under wine.

EA also open sourced the code and people are working on fixing bugs

[–] fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There's openra.net which is an open source "all the Command and Conquer games" engine, which may be of interest?

[–] foofiepie@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Wow thank you. RIP my free time for a while.

[–] illpillow@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

Runs quite well with WINE using CnCnet.

[–] josephc@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 days ago

Oh! That could be it!

SPACE!

It's not necessarily role play of assault, though it can be that. It can also mean that blanket consent has been given ahead of time, and so the subject is unaware of what may happen to them or when, and by the nature of it can't give specific consent for any particular action. It can have to do with pushing/exploring boundaries, a power dynamic kink, or just enjoying the element of surprise, among others.

If you're doing it right, consent can be withdrawn at any time via a pre-established non-verbal signal and/or safeword, and any bondage equipment will have safety releases.

e: In case it's unclear, I just mean that the definition is more broad than that. I don't think there's anything wrong with role-playing assault.

Bully: Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?

Sex nerd: BDSM

[–] josephc@lemmy.ml 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 29 points 4 days ago

So, essentially command and conquer

[–] DarkAri@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 days ago

My safe word is harder

[–] Hux@lemmy.ml 17 points 4 days ago

Wow, I’ve never been more terrified of “CNC machines”…

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago (3 children)
[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 46 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Doesn't have to be roleplay, just the agreement that no or stop doesn't mean stop, and a safeword instead

[–] rovingnothing29@lemmy.world 50 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The safe word is Flower, but they keep saying Flour. What gives?

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

This is why I choose 'Fiduciary Responsibility' as my safeword.

That Fallout show was really good. I can't believe It took until this week for me to watch it.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I wasn't entirely sold until the guy wiped his dick on the curtains.

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was sold from the sets. The fact that the fonts and everything looked goddamn identical had me enthralled. When every single camera angle started to make me think of the cinematic killshots or every tiny thing carried over from the games like NPCs that don't talk to you or clipping into the floor or the deep psychological horror combined with goddamn near whimsy?

I was fucking stunned. I was watching the pilot with a friend I met here on Lemmy and he can attest to it. I didn't shut the fuck up the entire time throughout the episode because I kept just cackling. @Robolemmy@lemmy.dbzer0.com can confirm lol

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah... that line also sent me over the fucking moon. "You mean use my cock?" and "So you wanna make my cock explode now?" also killed me

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 4 points 4 days ago (3 children)

That movie had some surprisingly funny scenes. I didn't expect a whole lot going in, but it did exceed those expectations.

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 30 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

My partners into it. I'm into BDSM and it threw me off for a while. I think of it like the most extreme version of a sub/ dom sex play with roleplay. It's definitely something that requires a whole lot of forethought, communication, and most of all, CONSENT.

[–] Pistcow@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

That's the spirt!

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

I had to learn to program CNC machines with punch tape back in the eighties, so not too far off.

[–] Luffy879@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 days ago
[–] Bonus@mander.xyz 41 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

~~Computer Numerical Control~~ Consensual Non-Consent

[–] vrek@programming.dev 35 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Ironically a few years back I was starting a project at work and was told one of the machines was a "miyano" I didn't know what that was so I googled it... Entire first page of images was anime.

Turns out it was a 12 axis lathe...

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] vrek@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago

Well it had 3 bits from different directions that each moved in 4 axis(in/out, up/down, left right, spin) which could be used simultaneously and controlled independently.

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Thats fucking wild

I bet programing that thing is like flying a spacecraft

[–] vrek@programming.dev 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah it's not something you program repeatedly though. You basically program once and hit a button and walk away and it will make hundreds to thousands of whatever.

My understanding was you basically programmed it in steps. So like on step 1 operation on one bit, on other bit at same time run this operation and on third bit run this operation at same time. Now when all of those operations are complete move to step 2 and repeat.

To make it more difficult there was also an automatic bar loader and a automatic bucket changer(it dumped the parts into buckets).

Also to make it run fast you tried to balance each axis operations in a each step so no axis was ever stopped waiting for the other operations but you also had to stop them periodically to control heat and not break the bits since due to the products we were not allowed to use coolant.

It took 3 senior engineers and 2 junior engineers 2 years to set it up to make 3 different products reliably. It was awesome when it eventually ran properly though.

Thank you, I thought I was alone in the outgroup for this one.
