Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

Well played.

Genuinely real. Had to block out a sign above that said the town name. Lol.

That's why I said block out, not black out lol

Line up the letters to complete the captcha and gain access to good food.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

It's not good food... :(

The message on this sign hasn't been updated in over 10 years, but got scrambled sometime between 2021 and 2022

Edit: Actually, the last line "Free Internet" was removed sometime between 2018 and 2021. RIP Free Internet.

Although the "restaurant" sign was replaced sometime between 2014 and 2016

Level 100 GeoGuessr over here!

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

if you like geoguessr try https://whentaken.com/ it's been a real challenge and fun connecting history with geography

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Show off. Lol. But thank you for blurring it out. How'd you get it? What, what narrowed the search?

[–] graham1@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

After you play enough Geoguessr you learn what every part of america looks like. The green forested hills and american pickup trucks everywhere give away the approximate region; the Weigels (found on a list of USA gas station chains) is apparently unique to one city; and the Executive Inn makes the last pinpointing step much easier.

I'll DM you.

I got so excited thinking I had stumbled on a local community. I know exactly where this is.

DM me? I'd love to meet a fellow lemming!

I've met a few from the tri cities area on here

The overabundance of trucks, the slightly off bumper on the truck on the right, overhead lines just going everywhere... what is the opposite of AI going sentient? I think you got sucked into the shitty matrix.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, it would explain a lot if I were to find out the machines built this town for the express purpose of being just shitty enough to keep you down without making it so shitty you kill yourself trying to leave...
