Practical Engineering is also on Nebula (among other some high quality YouTube channels), and tou can get an ad-free yearly sub for around $30. Not giving my views or af-money to Google.

[–] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

Plus the money actually goes directly to the creators you watch.

[–] ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The fact that you knew the channel based on the subtitles is incredible 😂

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair the topic is very specific. There are not that many big channels that talk about engeneering, esspecially bridge engeneering. At least not that I know of.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 1 points 32 minutes ago

There is "Real Civil Engineer", but he's actually an architect

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If you’re considering Nebula, I’d, personally, go for the lifetime subscription. It’s the better deal after 5 years.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Better deal after 5 years, if they still exist and honor the lifetime subscription by the time 5 years have passed

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 1 points 7 minutes ago

They can’t not honour the contract, can they? The only risk is their going bankrupt, which seems unlikely, given for how long they’ve existed already.

Maybe blur is just another benefit of cable-stayed bridges

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 19 points 18 hours ago

No, cable stayed bridges would never betray me like that.

Can I port my subscription list from newpipe to pipepioe?

[–] Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works 11 points 18 hours ago

And settings as well. Yes.

Yes. PipePipe is a fork of NewPipe.

[–] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago

Pipepipe is great! Works really good so far.

Try Revanced manager. Or Tubular. Or FreeTube. Or Grayjay...... There are so many. Even for android tv. There is YouTube next

[–] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

FreeTube is currently broken, maybe for the same reason OP is having problems, YouTube changed something on their end. Although supposedly the fix is coming through shortly. Shoutouts to the maintainers doing all this work.

[–] penquin@lemm.ee 1 points 2 hours ago

That's correct, that's why it wasn't the only one I mentioned. Grayjay is so damn reliable. Louis Rossmann is crazy and got grayjay on the freaking Google play store. Lmao

if you want an app, revanced is good. it has the same UI of the normal YouTube app (minus whatever you don't want, like ads or shorts or news etc, it's one of the most customizable ones I've seen) and besides adblocking has sponsorblock and return dislike and stuff built in (optional ofc) you can still use new pipe for downloads when you press the in-app download button and I like that feature a lot.

my other suggestion is Firefox + ublock origin. can never go wrong with the classics haha

edit: revanced.app is the official site

If on ios, Unwatched is my holy grail

[–] Glent@lemmy.ca 2 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Where can one get revanced? Give a brother a link?

[–] penquin@lemm.ee 3 points 16 hours ago

Here here. Just do a quick search on how to use it. Basically, download a YouTube APK on a browser and patch it in the app. That's it.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 4 points 17 hours ago

Have you tried changing your DNS to one of these:

  • 194.242.2.4#base.dns.mullvad.net
  • 76.76.2.2#https://freedns.controld.com/p2

https://mullvad.net/en/help/dns-over-https-and-dns-over-tls

[–] marius@feddit.org 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

You could also simply use firefox

[–] dhhyfddehhfyy4673@fedia.io 1 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Currently borked on firefox as well. Youtube just implemented some new anti-adblock fuckery.

[–] kepix@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

works fine here

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] tomjuggler@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Just checked, they said it's done!

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 6 minutes ago

Not published to production yet, but if you have a github account, you can download the nightly which works.

I had to look around for it, but newpipe po-token version is still working for me. It uses some different method of fetching the video, but with the same interface.
