Im beyond furious.
Ive been waking up all week earlier than my work alarms because of all the bullshit going on in our country. There is no justice on this fucking planet.
There is justice. Many just don't want to administer it themselves, which is understandable.
Luigi Mangione did nothing wrong and we need more people like him. Hopefully, the people of NYC aren’t so stupid as to reelect a traitor/criminal like Adams again. If they do, they deserve to reap exactly what he sows.
Didn't they elect Rudy Giuliani at some point
Whenever a corrupt criminal escapes justice I find myself wondering how much can the People take before they break out the pitchforks

Quite a lot, actually, based on historical precedence.
It's going to take mass starvation and lack of food access for people to get fed up. It's always food access that tips the scales.
That’s going to be pretty soon at this rate. The number one reason people are looking the other way is because they’re afraid of losing their jobs and healthcare. We’re heading for a bad recession this summer where a lot of people will lose both anyways. So they will be all out of excuses.
This is also why fired federal workers are one of the angriest groups so far.
Also, food isn’t the only way to get people to turn to violence. Violence against a population, collective punishment, and unnecessarily dangerous work conditions work as well. The American Revolution turned from a political squabble to a military one when the British heavily occupied Boston as punishment. Labor strikes used to be violent, mainly out of necessity.

I'd argue that it is back to being necessary.
Most people do not care about some corrupt politician whose activities seem inconsequential to their own circumstances is getting away. It needs to affect them in a tangible way for people to care.
In the opulence of America, things would have to change dramatically. Like, across the entire nation people witnessing their neighbors and family members dying kind of dramatically. Existential threat in a clear and obvious way that even a moron can understand kind of dramatically. Short of that, this nation is addicted to corruption.
Im not going to riot over this guy, sorry.
TL;DR
With prejudice, so the DOJ can’t use this as a stick to keep him in line.
So instead of blackmailing Adams on these charges, that DOJ will have to find different charges to threaten him with?
Somehow I don't think they'll have much trouble.
Your tldr immediately conflicts with your post...
A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed the criminal corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, nearly two months after the Trump administration controversially sought to drop the case.
The case was dismissed “with prejudice,” which means the Department of Justice is permanently barred from resurrecting the five-count indictment against Adams based on the same evidence used in the case in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
trump wanted charges dropped, because Adams is kissing his ass.
Just because Adams has a D by his name, doesn't mean he's on the peoples side.
He's an obviously corrupt piece of shit who was likely just bought off by trump to protect his NYC interests
But you're acting like him getting off Scott free is a good thing
The TLDR isn't conflicting at all with what you quoted...
Trump wanted the case dismissed without prejudice. While Adams could very well end up still kissing Trumps ass, this makes it less likely as DOJ can’t resurrect the charges.
I never said him getting off Scott free is a good thing. I think he should face the charges.
this makes it less likely
Only if you think Adams is only doing all the stupid corrupt shit to make trump like him...
Sounds a lot more likely that he's just a corrupt piece of shit like virtually every other NYC mayor or former NYPD. Especially since he was doing stupid corrupt shit when Biden was president
Trump wanted the case dismissed without prejudice.
Bolding something isn't the same as linking a source...
The without prejudice part is in the article:
The DOJ had asked Ho to toss the case “without prejudice,” which would have allowed charges to be refiled against the mayor in the future.
As for why that could be bad:
Ho, in his order on Wednesday, wrote that dismissing the case without prejudice “would create the unavoidable perception that the Mayor’s freedom depends on his ability to carry out the immigration enforcement priorities of the administration.
The judge also said it would create the perception that Adams, who is seeking re-election this year, “might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents.”
“That appearance is inevitable, and it counsels in favor of dismissal with prejudice,” Ho wrote.
The judge noted that Adams requested a dismissal with prejudice, and that the DOJ had not opposed that motion, “effectively waiving any objection to permanent dismissal of this case.”
If he cared about, he'd have made noise about it not happening how he wanted...
Or more likely, had the DOJ oppose it
You're stuck on "stick" being the only way one corrupt politician can I fluence another.
Adams would eat a carrot out of Trump's ass, he doesn't need a stick when the door is opened to more corruption.
For fucks sake, pay attention to more than a single letter
Former acting U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon, who resigned in February rather than follow through with an order to dismiss the case, told Attorney General Pam Bondi in a letter that at Adams' lawyers at a meeting with her and top DOJ official Emil Bove "urged what amounted to a quid pro quo" in which the mayor would support Trump immigration enforcement efforts in exchange for dismissal of the case.
New York, New York. You got some work to do.
And this fucker is one of the people who have to sign off on a billionaire's plan to destroy my performance home and replace it with a shittier Atlantic City
Fuck Eric Adams
You know they had to wait until today to announce this, had this come out yesterday, everyone would have assumed it was an April Fools joke with how absurd it it.
Of course as a resident of NYC I am angry about this. Not only is he a criminal but he's also selling out the city to Trump. I would enjoy knowing how much he was squirming if the case was dismissed without prejudice like Trump wanted it to be, but I suppose it's better that Trump has less control over him.
I do see a bit of humor in all this, because he accepted such small bribes.
From Wikipedia:
Adams took over $100,000 in bribes from Turkey in exchange for using his powers to help open the Turkevi Center. These bribes mostly took the form of free and discounted luxury travel benefits. These benefits included free hotel rooms, free meals at high-end restaurants, free entertainment while in Turkey, free and heavily discounted flights, and similarly free and discounted flight class upgrades.
I would understand why he might be tempted to give up his integrity and accept the possibility of being caught if large sums of money (millions at least) were involved, but $100,000 is less than his yearly salary would be in the NYPD and he didn't even get it in cash! I don't earn as much as an NYPD captain like him (but enough to be comfortable) and I would experience zero temptation to take such a risk even if I had no moral objection to bribery. If I was the mayor then I would even be offended by the offer - who do they think I am if they expect me to sell myself for so little?
He's just a petty crook higher up in the world than he knows how to be. Pathetic.
Phew! I know Chuck Schumer and the DNC Party were WORRIED they Might have to Break Ties with him! But since he's INNOCENT of the Corruption he Partook In they can KEEP him in the Ranks!
So what are the democrats doing to remove this corrupt sleaze from their ranks? lol jk.
Hochul can remove him but she is as useful as a wet tissue
