Coretta Scott King died 19 years ago. This is an edited version of a post Bernice King made to Facebook back in 2017 (it said "45" back then).

While she did post it, she presented it as "Some Wise Advice Circulating", suggesting that it's most likely something she saw and agreed with rather than advice from her. I think she removed her original post, but she later reposted a slightly modified version. If you're OK with visiting Facebook, here is the link.

Notably, Bernice changed rule 1 in her modified version:

Use his name sparingly so as not to detract from the issues. I believe that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, deserves the dignity of being called by their name. However, this is a strategic tactic. While we are so focused on him we are prone to neglect the questionable policies that threaten freedom, justice and fairness advanced by the administration.

The version in OP has the original rule 1.

So you're saying, follow rule 8.

Also, on first read, I thought it was saying Coretta Scott King posted this, but it says the daughter of MLK and CSK, and never used Bernice's name.

It's a bad, misleading screenshot that doesn't follow its own advice. It should be rewritten to be more accurate.

The Republican President announced sweeping tariffs that experts say will cause a massive recession.

That big orange turd!!

Okay, it's baby steps...

Went through a nasty divorce years ago, happened upon the concept of "words have power", refused to say her name ever again and demanded family do the same. Its the best mental health decision I've ever made.

It applies to 47 too, and for the same reasons.

When I have to use their name in writing I don't capitalize it. It's petty, but it gives me a little boost everytime I deliberately avoid the shift key. Using 'their' rather than 'his' also feels appropriate for someone with such a hang up about pronouns. I like to think that sort of disrespect is sort of thing that would really get under their skin after a while.

I know it is kinda fun to mock Trump as we know it upsets him, but what it also does is set you up as an adversary to the people you want to convince to turn against him.

There will always be the die hard Trumpers you can not convince but they aren't the ones you want to reach. If you start by coming across as childish, you will convince anyone listening to you that you only have a childish view on these things and they will not pay as much attention to you. You may even insult them by making them feel foolish having voted for him and push them further away.

Few people were ever convinced they were wrong by someone who started with name calling.

That said, you don't need to convince me, and I personally enjoy the name calling.

Clever girl. It's the optimal way.
