Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Somewhat of a click-bait headline and article.

By itself, Signal is one of the most secure communications software, it is encrypted point to point with a different cypher per message and the cyphers are already prepared to withstand quantum processing.

The issue is not Signal, is the fact this moron was circumventing security measures as member of the government.

They are more concerned about hiding from the american people and the other 2 branches of gov than any foriegn power.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 2 hours ago

I wonder if his recent on-camera mania is booze fueled, panic as his life crumbles around him, or both.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 24 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The Whitehouse has an unsecured Starlink connection on its roof. Why would Hegseths Signal surprise anyone.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 2 hours ago

I wonder if it's even plugged in. I mean it's just an Elon grift, who says he's even proving a service for his kickbacks?

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 45 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

This is to bypass freedom of information laws and the record keeping it requires. This is straight up breaking the law.

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Ok, it may be breaking a law or two but, BUT, can any of you name a better way to get top secret and sensitive info to Russia in a quicker and easier way? Hmm, can you?

How about sending a delegation of senators and congresscritters to Russia on July 4th?

The main reason for this is to avoid any digital paper trail. The whole thing is to do one thing: not leave anything that can be subpoenaed or have a FOIA filing against.

He is hiding what he is doing just like the rest of the trump regime.

Instead of OPSEC, they have OPNOSEC.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 89 points 13 hours ago (2 children)
[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Elon here: we have OPSEXY now.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 65 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

It was right there, and I missed it.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It's ok, you're doing great

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 7 points 8 hours ago

Thanks, Mom

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 18 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

Aaannd...

I believe it was Hagfish himself that declared (early in the conversation) "We are currently clean on OPSEC"...

And again, later in the convo: "But, we can easily pause. And if we do, I will do all we can to enforce 100 percent OPSEC."...

WHEN HE WAS THE ONE THAT ACTUALLY SUBVERTED OPSEC BEFORE THE CHAT EVEN STARTED.

Fuck, this guy is as dumb a dumb ass as dumb asses get... 🙄 🤡 🤦‍♀️ 🖕 🖕

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

This is what happens when an idiotic washed-up game show host selects his cabinet from watching (actual) fake news outlets and thinking their hosts would be so totally awesome in their given roles....

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 20 points 11 hours ago

What do you bet it's a Starlink based Internet connection

I'm NOT Sexist and NOT Racist and I would Rather have a DRUNK WHITE MAN PUTTING OUR SERVICE MEMBERS, VETERANS and NATIONAL SECURITY at RISK then to have a BLACK or WOMAN ANYWHERE in the Military! I'm NOT Sexist or Racist!

[–] witten@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

You'll know it's true topsy-turvy world when the red state MAGA types start driving EVs and using encrypted messaging apps.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

I know you are joking, but it's the real DEI.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 5 points 9 hours ago

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago

Buttery males

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Huh, wait but why wasn't it okay for the Navy chiefs on the LCS Manchester to do the same thing?

[–] LarryLurkman@lemm.ee 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I heard Guard Lieutenant Secretary Hegseth wants cosmetics at the fucking Pentagon so he can be a pretty little bitch in TV lol

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Might be good for the next person in that role, since it would not be at all surprising to see him chucked soon.

[–] TheDeadlySquid@lemm.ee 11 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Why hasn’t he been fired yet?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

HA. As if anything works at all.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 5 points 12 hours ago

There's a line for the cannons.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Is he also a Russian asset?

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

I mean he's a Republican so yes

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

I mean - just because he's doling out classified information into an unsecured line with his personal signal account in the most spied-on building in the most spied-on town in the world, I'd be surprised if he wasn't being passed around all the big dictatorships.

Like a broken slot machine, he just keeps paying out.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 3 points 12 hours ago

Ok wow now that

That's a new level of stupid.

[–] Archangel1313@lemm.ee 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)
[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

That was a woman we are talking about. And a Democrat. Also, she was being trashed for decades up until that point by the orchestrated Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

So that's different. IOKIYAR.
