Retiree and I am always up by 4am at the absolute latest and usually it is anywhere between 2 and 3am. But I do go to bed at 8pm so there's that. Habit from my working years and I enjoy the peace and quiet. Me and the dog up while the wife sleeps in until 6am when she gets up for work.

Crikey what job did you do?

[–] Typewar@infosec.pub 3 points 2 weeks ago

Incredible!

I tested this last year when I moved into a new place having been up all night.. went to bed at 19, and woke up at 3 AM. From there I kept it going throughout the year.

I used to enjoy being up late for the peace and quiet but damn, you can rather get that in the morning AND feel good about it at the same time

Between 5:30 and 6:00 am, work or no work I'm just a morning person in general. If I'm not up by 7 am my dog comes over to check if I'm still alive lol

My natural going to sleep time is between 12 and 1am, so I aim for 8:30am

[–] infinitevalence@discuss.online 6 points 2 weeks ago

6:30am during the school year 8ish in summers if I can.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 6 points 2 weeks ago

I aim for 7, I feel like I've got the whole day ahead me then

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

Usually 8am but often shifts to 7:30am or earlier in the summer when the sun is up earlier.

I never needed much sleep. So, I wake up at 4AM, 5 at most. I like to write early in the morning while our apartment, as well as the entire city around us is quiet. In the summer, I will often work on our balcony so I can enjoy the sun rising and the birds singing... That is, before cars, trucks, and motorcycles start roaring, obviously.

I wake up around 5:00-6:00, depending on the day and when my wife gets up.

I’m a morning person. I cease to function after 8 pm, unless I’ve been drinking. Regardless, I cannot physically sleep during daylight hours.

Exactly the same here, minus the wife. If I make it to 9pm without being in bed it's a miracle. I wake up with the sunrise and get tired at sunset.

I work both opening shifts and closing shifts in a typical week, so I'll wake up anywhere from 5am to 11am.

[–] Tilgare@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah, in retail I discovered time is just a construct and just planned my sleep around my shift. If I closed tomorrow, I'd just get to bed tonight about 02:30 so I could be up at 10:30. I spent more time exclusively in an opening shift in my 15 years, and so I certainly preferred waking up at 04:30. On any of the schedules that I wrote, I always gave some space around a schedule flip if I needed an opener to close or vise versa, because I know it sucks.

For a year, I worked a single overnight shift and 9-5 otherwise - so I'd just stay up all day Saturday, just basically pull an all-nighter and work through the night Saturday night and then tried to nap as early but as little as possible Sunday so I could still sleep Sunday night ahead of my 9am shift Monday.

There's definitely a variety of shitty schedules in retail. Sucks.

Tuesdays and Thursdays when I have to take a train to work I'm up by 700 or earlier. Every other weekday when I'm remote I'm up at 730 to 800. I'm off every day at 1530. Weekends I'm up anywhere from 800 to 1100.
