Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

"Thanks for curing me house, shame about my other undiagnosable illness"

"Oh, it wouldn't interest you. Well.. Goodbye!"

"There's a tick in that young girl's vagina!!!"

Ask House and Wilson for a steamy gay threesome

[–] Sv443@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

This vexes me

It would hurt him a lot more if you did it before he figures out what's wrong with you

[–] hamms@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I think the only thing about this outcome that would bother him is that he didn't see it coming. The guy was in the doctor business to flex intellect and solve puzzles; the whole "saving people" bit was incidental.

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wilson even asks him why he's happy one time a patient died afterwards. And he literally just goes "but I solved the case" in a snarky way.

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Absolutely. A continuing theme in the show that is consistently overlooked by a lot of people is that his primary addiction isn't vicodin. It's solving a puzzle. Like they bat people upside the head with that over so many major plot points and so many people I know who watched it just didn't get that. Fucking Cuddy even says it point blank in one episode. Nope.

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, I recently started a rewatch and I don't understand how people miss that.

Over and over again his leg doesn't hurt while working on a case(even off drugs), and then he's clutching his thigh and throwing things around as soon as it's solved.

These are the same people who refuse to accept that Raymond Reddington and Katarina Rostova are the same person despite the entire show hammering it constantly and outright spoonfeeding it twice. And it's not like The Blacklist is high brow. I love the show but it's awful. I just watch it because James Spader is a delight. Probably why I've made so many fucking GIFs of it...

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Without James Spader, that show would have been 2-3 seasons, at most. It might not have even got greenlit. Because of his performance it got something like 10 seasons. Although I have to admit I still haven't watched the last few seasons. The interpersonal conflict went too far into day-time soap for me.

I would ask why are there defibrillator marks on my dick, and an otoscope in my urethra.

(Bcs I just woke up and have forgotten that is exactly what I asked for.)

If the camera is where my eyes are, is House standing on my legs?

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The camera is where your stomach is. It's Foreman you have to worry about.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

hes going to give you full body radiation.

[–] katja@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago

Ask if I too could get a vicodin or two

[–] Toes@ani.social 5 points 2 days ago

Hopefully this is before season 4.

Otherwise I might be screwed.

[–] tetris11@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Oh shit. Oh shit oh shit oh shit.

You can treat me, but please no speedos.

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Gaze at Cuddy and get the courage up to say hi.

Only one thing to do. Grab Cuddy's butt.
