The successor to the Fairphone 5 will be officially unveiled on June 25, 2025, as NieuweMobiel has learned. WinFuture has already published an initial image showing the mid-range smartphone in Horizon Black.

Alternatively, the Fairphone 6 will also be available in Cloud White and Forest Green. At least one variant is reportedly equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage. The design has been greatly modernized, with the screen bezels being significantly narrower than on the Fairphone 5, while the frame will be flat. One of the buttons is designed in a contrasting color, which could be the slider that detaches the back from the body.

The back is said to consist of two halves in different colors. Cameras include a main camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera, but no telephoto camera. The focus of the Fairphone 6 is said to be on making repairs as easy as possible. Components such as the two rear cameras, the selfie camera, the speakers, the USB-C port, the display and the battery are reportedly modular, making replacement by end users relatively straightforward. Spare parts will be sold directly to consumers.

The modular, split back allows users to get creative with color combinations. WinFuture speculates that the frame of the Fairphone 6 will be made of plastic instead of metal, as no antenna bands are visible. The base model of the Fairphone 6 is expected to launch for a suggested retail price of €549.

As an owner of FP3+ (bought it around the end of 2023) i start feeling a bit outdated) The current phone suits my needs, though - so not gonna dump it.)

The fp3+ actually has the audio jack (which i think i've used only a couple of times, tbf)) - but i'm mostly interested how/whether Fairphone can make feature back-compatible models and/or modules.

I'm guessing, keeping compatibility (between different models/generations) is not quite possible, though.

In going to be honest, I don't get the vitriol about a physical audio jack any more. I used to agree but I bought a nice set of bluetooth earbuds on clearance years ago and never looked back. I'd rather have wireless charging than an audio jack if im going to give up physical space in the phone.

I get all the reasons too, battery life for the buds, losing them, built in tether.... But being forward with you all, most of those aren't actually issues for me.

These aren't mutually exclusive though. The Zenfone 10 managed to do it in a way smaller body for example

As much as I'd want to, I think it probably wont be inclided, judging from 2 points:

They didnt mention it. Audio jack would really be a convincing feature for the phone, it'd probably be one of the first things to mention, especially when they say that they removed the telephoto camera and thus they are already cutting features. They could make it look as a trade-off, removing a camera, but adding back the audio jack. Being silent about any possibility of it returning is probably on purpose to avoid extra flame.
It says that speakers, usb port, camera etc. are easily replaceable. An audio jack port would be very easily replaced too. Not mentioning probably means that it doesnt exist.

It's such a let down, they might be the best phone company and they still are bad. A huge part of the community complains about it and there's almost noone who would be bothered about having an audio jack port. Greed is making them kind of blind...

I appreciate it would be easier not to have to, but as you can get usb c to 3.5/aux converters, is that not an option?

imo no. Because:

you can't charge at the same time (there are dongles that allow both, but I don't trust those to keep the two signals apart without interference)
it's annoying
there's more strain on the usb c port. A headphone jack is, in my experience, more sturdy

The thing is, I'm still using my FP4 and it's going strong. I want to move to a newer, slimmer stronger device, but I can't justify it. Maybe Fairphone could get more people to upgrade if they had a return-to-resell practice. I could give them my FP4 and they'd take €100 off the FP6, then they'd resell the FP4 for €200 or something to someone who needs a phone.
