About 72 per cent of Deutsche Bahn’s intercity trains arrived within 10 minutes of their scheduled arrival time in the year to January 2025,[...]

Fun fact! I'm not sure if it was done here, but almost any time DB calculates a statistic like that, they don't count the trains that didn't arrive at all as unpunctual. So if a train is completely cancelled, it's technically "on time" because the predicted time is "never"

The forgotten coffee problem was my main reason for switching to oatmilk. If it stands around uncooled with cow milk for too long it grosses me out, but oatmilk isn't as volatile so I don't mind drinking yesterday's coffee.

It got a lot better when I got on adhd medication, even though the medication doesn't do much else for me yet.

I think a certain reframing of depression has helped me too: It doesn't just make you sad and tired, it also makes you cynical and very critical of any ideas that might actually help you out of it. So I went to people I mostly trust, asked them how to get out of the depressive slump, and just did whatever they suggested instead of following the urge to talk down their ideas and reason out why they won't work for me. And honestly, it probably didn't even matter what exactly their suggestions were, because just doing anything is enough to get some positive change started.

I crammed out my old VR headset! Apparently I bought a Quest 1 in like 2019/2020 but never touched it again after Cave Digger VR gave me horrible motion sickness once.

Got Minecraft set up on it and now I'm slowly playing through a world! Weirdly, Motion sickness is not an issue at all now, even with all the movement options set to full speed. I can even drive a boat on ice, and that makes me nauseous in normal-screen Minecraft sometimes lol

Tall & Skinny are the prerequisites for high-fashion modeling, so I bet any luxury-esque store should have sizes approximating yours :)

I almost missed picking up my meds yesterday because I was playing Minecraft VR ... took like 2 hours between realizing I need to go pick them up and tearing off the headset and only half-turning everything off, because I got caught in wanting to turn the game off in a state where I'd remember what I was working on, so I had to return home, and then I had to fix a machine I was tinkering with, and then my crops were ready so I had to pick them, and then a trader wandered in and I wanted something before he disappeard so I had to scrape up money...

Granted, it manifests as a coughing, orphaned puppy

Sure, I'll snap a few if Revy wants to hang out with me tonight! :)

I always refill my snake's water dish with cold (so like 10°C) water, just so that she has the option to drink it cold if she wants to, or wait for it to get to room temperature.

Usually, she just goes up to the fresh water, tongue flicks on the surface, then ignores it for several hours. No idea if that means that she doesn't like it cold. She could just be not thirsty at all but intrigued by the dish moving back into her space (I always change it while she's looking, so that she knows what's going on and isn't startled by me moving it in or out).

Heyhey!

My fiance has been struggling with lack of space in his current email, plus his current provider (web.de) doesn't have the most professional name, which is bothering him because he's currently applying for jobs.

So I was looking to get him a nice clean email for Valentine's, that has a simple name and enough space for a while.

Problem is - I'm kinda dumb and have very little idea of how web hosting and email work (despite working as a Software Engineer...). So I could use some input on what steps I should be taking to get what I'm looking for while avoiding the pitfalls and hidden costs that some service providers have.

So far, I've found a nice {hisLastname}.cc domain on namecheap for 50€/10 years. Namecheap also offers a basic email service for 14€ per year, altough I'm not sure whether 5GB is enough space. The next higher email would be 40€ per year for 30GB of space. That seems more like what I'd be looking for, but also seems a bit expensive?

Does anyone have tips on where else I might want to look? How expensive would it be to just run my own email server? Getting a little homeserver rack has been a goal in our hosehold anyways, we just haven't had the time to look into what exactly to get.

What would I do once the domain (and maybe email service) is bought? Like, what does the migration from existing services look like? Would I have to set up specific software anywhere just to access the mails?

Edit: Thank you everyone, I got it figured out! I went ahead and bought the domain at Namecheap, but didn't buy their email service. I set the email up with a trial account on Purelymail instead, if that works without too many downtimes I'll be going ahead and getting their 10$/year plan - seems like the value on that is just too good :o

i will not elaborate

Down Dog makes really neat Apps that chain together smaller video snippets into cohesive workouts. So you don't have to follow the same video tutorial every day but get a different workout with whatever length or difficulty you want.
I personally really like their Yoga App, but they've got stuff like HIIT and Bodyweight Workouts too.

Who counts as a Student/teacher? Anyone with a .edu email address. They re-confirm the email every 2 years.

Completely unrelated YSK:
There are throwaway email generators that have .edu mails.

It's still under construction, check back in a few days when we're up and running :)

I've been coming across a lot more 0-score posts in New in the past few days. Weird thing is, most of them have a (sometimes significantly) higher score when I look at them from my lemmy.world account:

Could this be a federation issue? Has anyone noticed the same thing recently?
