A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Ah, I get it, the girls sleep well because they've got various armaments under the duvet with them.

Source: am gurl.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Is that why you guys like throw pillows so much? More hiding places?

[–] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

You say throw pillow, I say covert holster.

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

And makeshift silencer, should the need arise

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 0 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Lies, there are no gurls on lemmy especially not on ncd

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

That joke was old in like 2015.

[–] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

It felt old when I used to get it in Usenet groups ...

[–] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 7 hours ago

Certainly some sort of cliché about being old, yeah

[–] bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works 0 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Not really. Its just that its looked different at with the context of anno now. I get why, but the joke doesn't have to change or called old.

So, that's a pretty unparseable comment as of reading, but I'll take a wild guess that it translates to "it's great but people are too woke to appreciate it now".

It's not original, it stopped being kinda true years before 2015, and I'd assume it's grating to have directed at you over and over again if you are a gurl. It's just not treating other people with reasonable level of decency. Be better.

but I’ll take a wild guess that it translates to “it’s great but people are too woke to appreciate it now”.

Not too woke, but, for some old timers, you'd just take these old sayings. For me, and many others, its classic internet culture. We were the internet. And everybody deserves decency. Man after all this I guess you could say "too woke" but woke doesn't or covers too much of what woke meant.

You understand folks making these statements are old with a lot of life and experience at this point right? Its a simple joke.

To get my vibe, imagine people calling "all your base are belong to us" offensive to people without homes or ethnically displaced groups.

Anyway, I wandered off.

-edit- I am not sure if I think with an "/s" or not anymore. I became.the thing I had hatred for

I saw this before I saw the news and then I searched it up

You seen Cambodia? They're starting again Israel strikes Iran, just before netanyahu was going to be removed as president, two votes away

All I can hope for is a humiliation for Israel, that they are utterly defeated, can't advance, fail in air superiority, int and suffer military infrastructure damages from missiles

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Netanyahu is potentially going to be removed?

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 23 hours ago

The Knesset was ready to oust him hours before the bombs fell

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 8 points 21 hours ago

God dammit. I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 23 points 1 day ago

This shit is a weekly occurrence. God, that entire region kind of depresses me sometimes. Well, there's a lot of them that do.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (4 children)

tbh I'm really surprised south korea isn't doing the same to north korea, I feel like the first opportunity nk gets to strike it will

[–] emergencyfood@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 hours ago

NK has nukes. Iran does not. Important difference.

Seoul is within artillery distance of North Korea

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Their leadership doesn't even like to hang out in NK. It's weird, at this point North Korea is basically a resource colony, just with oppressors who are (nominally) domestic instead of the European inbreds we usually associate with that.

That is to say, the nukes exist to protect the criminal enterprise, and there's no universe where the elites would care enough about anything other than comfort and covering their ass to do a first strike.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 11 points 1 day ago

North Korea and Kim Jong Un know that the moment that they send nukes, nukes are sent to them. South Korea understands the same.
