A sound setup like that’s not going to be cheap

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I'm saving my 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel to power my 20 ton Doof Wagon with massive sound equipment and flame throwing guitar. That should be enough fuel to intimidate anyone that comes near my compound for about a week.

This is why I'm investing in girl scout cookies. They will have a high trading value AND are edible. The perfect investment vehicle.

AND they're easily frozen, good for long term storage!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That's a great plan ..... if you live north of the Arctic Circle

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 5 points 1 month ago

What, you're telling me you don't possess a hamster-powered freezer?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago

Or In yakutia

[–] crank0271@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What's the Thin Mint / guzzoline exchange rate?

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago

About 0.1 banana

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

That depends on who rules Barter Town

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Probably 5 thin mints per gallon. In my mind, they are about $1 each. 😉

Counterpoint: If we had taken this thinking in the 80s, when the first Mad Max movies were made, we would have missed out on a lot of money saving.

My point is: don't let movies or some bad recent news guide your planning too much.

[–] Stillwater@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In the 80s it was a fantasy, not a real prospect

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That’s what Reagan wanted you to believe.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As opposed to tye christofascists who own all the banks deciding what you can abd can't spend your money on.

Saving is censorship. Spend the money you get on infrastructure. Invest in people.

[–] Geometrinen_Gepardi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Yup, if you succumb to the mentality that this meme is joking about you'll one day find yourself old, poor and dependent on other people.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just to be clear, we're all already poor and dependent on other people

[–] Geometrinen_Gepardi@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hope you guys get better.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

That includes you if you don't live on the Sentinel Island or something.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Land, food, and ammo will become the currency.

[–] diptchip@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Maybe replace land with lamb.

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago

Good movie btw. Its mad max fury road!

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 7 points 1 month ago

You should save bottlecaps for the future

[–] not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

when world trade routes collapse the first thing to run out is going to be gas, there is no world where you have no water but plenty of diesel xD

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

From the same director who crafted Babe: Pig in the city, this movie was better than it had any right to be.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

If you'd saved some money, you could afford your own apocalypse truck made from scrap!

[–] plumbercraic@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 month ago

Laughed so hard when that dude showed up. Also loved the bag boys chanting "v8" - what a top film.

Also, the christofascists who own the banks control all that money you're saving.

This is a clear case of zombie rockerophobia.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I am saving money...

To buy a bunker...
