General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

The media witch-hunt worked then.

I mean yes she probably has done something wrong, maliciously or "honest mistake guv" I don't know, is the media the best place to get facts about it to judge for yourself, no. Even official enquiries are not particularly trustworthy these days.

The bigger issue is why somebody so central to government was allowed to screw up this badly, it reflects poorly on the party. Which is exactly why the media is running with it.

Exactly this. Shows incredibly poor judgement all around.

The media witch-hunt worked then.

One man's witch hunt against a Labour politician is another man's guardian newspaper of the year investigative journalism against a Tory politician ๐Ÿคท . They both got caught not paying their fair share of tax and need to be exposed.

It wasn't so much just articles about this though the press have been "reporting" relentlessly for the past few weeks criticising several aspects of her life. If I could be bothered if find examples.

Have you forgotten the drip drip of party gate? Day after day some new salacious revelation.

Oh I do, makes you wonder where the money comes from that's paying for these stories... Oh wait we know this already.
