Since they announced the remake of Super Mario RPG, I've found myself playing the original again.

In fact, I have a few classics that I still play regularly.

  • Zelda ALttP
  • Super Metroid
  • Metroid Prime (Switch remaster is πŸ”₯)
  • Kirby Air Ride (City Trial is still my go-to party game with my 30 year old friends)
  • Super Mario 64

What about you guys?

honestly, i'm always running so far behind on my backlog that i rarely get to replay games. mario world/mario 64 is what i replay when they get bumped into a new service

I've never really stopped playing Super Mario World.

[–] redsol2@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Mario World world map is like a Mario Kart track at this point. Every year we take another lap.

If I still had my 64 I'd break out paper mario once a year.

[–] _hauf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Done this twice since Nintendo put it on the virtual console. Still such a fantastically funny and entertaining game.

[–] redsol2@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Love the OG! I've heard Thousand Year Door is even better but I haven't gotten around to playing it.

[–] Frankelton@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Does Pokemon count? Because that's forever going to be my jam.

Super Mario 3, there is just something into it that I just keep coming back to.

  • Secret of Mana 1+2
  • Terranigma
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Earthbound
  • ALttP

... for the SNES. Those were the games I grew up with and every other year I get the itch to replay one of those. I've considered playing the remake of SoM 2 but the demo felt bland and off to me.

On a related note, I would totally buy each of those for the Switch so I could play them on a proper handheld, but the current system with the yearly subscription that basically only rents those games to the end user and forces them to stay online, is something I find off-putting. I'd much rather just pay once and be done, like with every other game in the eShop.

Super Mario World will always be my go-to.

[–] iliketurtles@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Ocarina of Time, Super Metroid, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz....I'll probably still be playing these when I'm in a nursing home lol

Earthbound and Super Metroid. Though I’ve enjoyed the randomizers for Metroid more than the original game anymore.

Ice Hockey and Golf. Both fantastic.

[–] FlavorPacket@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Ice Hockey was SO good! I still fire that one up from time to time.

Oot and MM are always fun to replay

[–] CaptainCimmeria@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Ocarina of Time A Link to The Past Mario 64 Super Mario World Smash 64

[–] Baaron87@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t replay games too often due to life in general and time constraints. Made time earlier this year to go back through A Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country. Considering going back and playing Ocarina of Time sometime soon

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I’d like an F-Zero that captures the visual style of the 16-bit version. More cartoony / anime than realistic.

Yoshi's Island on SNES

[–] chainsawrobot@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

The classics like Super Metroid, Turtles In Time, F-Zero and Link to the Past are always on rotation but I always love to pop on Cybernator (aka Assault Suits Valken) for a good run and gun mech time. Time Trax is another one not mentioned often but is nostalgic for me.

Super Mario RPG has a pretty fun randomizer I'll sometimes go back for a run in. Been a while since I have, but with the remake coming up might get back into it.

[–] m0nt1c3ll0@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Too many to list but here’s a few:

Zelda
Zelda 2
Mario 3
Mega Man 2
TMNT 2

β€” SNES β€”
Mario world
Zelda LTTP
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 3 (6)

[–] eatmoregreenfood@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Bro yes, ff3 and Chrono trigger are amazing. Love replaying them

[–] Kichae@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Mario 2, Mario World, Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Kart, and Double Dash

[–] Zoness@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Gotta be Star Fox 64 for me

[–] MassKirbycide@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Username checks out.

[–] Sjoerd1993@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Apparently Pikmin 1 if that counts as a classic. Played it first last week, and it’s been amazing. Got the rest of the series straight after.

If that doesn’t count, I still regularly play Super Mario 64, which is one of my all time favorite games period.

[–] roxas@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Super Mario Bros 3 and Pokemon Crystal are games that I always come back to, so many memories.

[–] ldacampelo@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago

Super Mario RPG Super Metroid Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3.
