Great news. I'm probably more likely to use Sync, but seeing not one but two well regarded Android Reddit apps migrate to Lemmy is just bloody awesome.

The developer has just announced that Relay will continue to function and will switch to a subscription model, so there probably won't be a Relay for Lemmy, unfortunately :(

This is what finally made me create a Lemmy account.

[–] theyseemeroland@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Seriously, same here. Can't wait for this to release.

Fuck yes. Boost was my favorite reddit app.

[–] s0phia@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Mine too! I've tried other but always came back to Boost.

[–] gk99@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Boost is so good I explicitly just made this account to use it in case kbin support isn't planned. Can't wait to pay for premium again and feel like nothing changed.

[–] gfdoto@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Reddit user for over 10 years, here for good. I was a long time Sync user and at some point I switched to Boost and I'm not sure why because I also purchased Sync Pro at some point. My two favorite Android apps being developed to work with Lemmy made me create a new account here and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

[–] momtheregoesthatman@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

I will launch that 🚀 as soon as the app is available. Pre-registration is done, let's goooooooo.

[–] stefenauris@pawb.social 3 points 2 years ago

I'm registered for this.... incidentally it's the first time I've ever seen pre-reg for an app before lol

[–] clockmaster@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For some reason, Boost for Reddit is still working too 😅

[–] ccf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

apparently it's because Reddit couldn't push out their API update on time. It's going into effect "... the coming weeks"

[–] 0Xero0@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

first Sync, now Boost? Let's funking go!!!

[–] briongloid@aussie.zone 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This is Lemmy now, you can swear if its not targeted

[–] 0Xero0@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I know, but I find it more fun this way

[–] MaxMouseOCX@vlemmy.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not targeted? Can't I randomly just tell you to go F yourself and it'd be fine?

[–] JadenSmith@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

I believe you have to supply lubricant.

To keep things friendly and all.

LONG LIVE THE KING

[–] danhasnolife@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Between Boost and Sync, Lemmy is emerging as a promising option because there's going to be multiple strong 3rd party apps to engage with.

I know there's a megathread for all lemmy clients, old and new. I just can't find it. Maybe you guys know? Or Is there a community? I just want an actual list of all lemmy apps.

Awesome, used to use the reddit version and really liked it, switched from the official app and never looked back. Excited to try it out when it releases (also this is my first comment on lemmy, been lurking for a week or so but I think it's time I start interacting)

[–] biggetit@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

This is the most exiting fedinews I've ever read.

[–] Pyroglyph@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I thought Rubén said he was going to move onto smaller apps instead of making a Lemmy app?

Regardless, I'm glad this is happening!

[–] Valour@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I am here because of boost

[–] CosmicExplorer@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

The promise of Boost for Lemmy is what got me to sign up.

[–] pwnstar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

As a boost user this is weird... So many people were asking in the subreddit and he never answered. I'm glad it's happening

[–] Sarcastik@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Same. I imagine there hasn't been anything official from Reddit as they are trying to cut off 3rd party apps on phases to avoid a massive drop in traffic.

Think of it as smoothing the transition to increase their odds that people will cave to "peer pressure" and just download the official app.

[–] impulse@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Thank you Ruben!

It seems like the future for Lemmy is pretty bright with all these amazing apps switching over.

It's a shame that Christian decided to not develop Apollo for Lemmy for the time being. I bet that would also convince a fair share of users to abandon ship.

[–] MrJukes@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

Nice, Boost was my reddit app of choice

[–] SteamedPepper@lemmy.nz 1 points 2 years ago

As a long term user of Boost for reddit, I'm so hyped by this now!!!!

[–] ATalkingPenguin@infosec.pub 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Never knew pre-registration for apps was a thing. Signed up for this one, looking forward to giving it a go

[–] jsalvador@programming.dev 1 points 2 years ago

OMG, cannot wait for this.

[–] Bosa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

Yes this is great! Between this and wefwef which is Apollo lookalike right now for iOS ppl this is great! Just need everyone over to Lemmy now but that'll prob take decades

I never used Boost for Reddit, but with this many people singing it's praises... ***BOOST FOR LEMMY, LET'S GOOO! *** Sorry, Connect. You're still cool tho

[–] Weeby_Wabbit@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I literally just discovered Connect after trying in vain to get Jerboa to work ahah. I'm so used to Boost, I can't wait for it to be inolimented here.

[–] OrdinaryAC@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I paid for Boost premium for Reddit a long time ago and will do it again just to support it here.

[–] Severopol@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Fantastic news. This'll really scratch the itch.
