I know for a fact that BC is not going to allow this to happen. The BC Conservatives (Social Credit) did this back in the 80's, and the result was a bunch of American companies strip mining and clear cutting their way through the province. It created a lot of temporary employment and even started up a bunch of small towns...but once those companies had taken what they wanted, they all fucked off back to the US and took all the extracted wealth with them, leaving folks without work, and a ton of environmental damage to clean up.

Needless to say, the BC Conservatives have never gained another majority since then.

Isn't the US currently threatening to annex a certain Danish territory...by force? Could someone explain like I'm 5, how this makes any sense?

This should get Tesla permanently barred from ever receiving government subsidies again.

I love how they just casually admit that they're "exploring ways" to break the law.

There's a big difference between someone putting in a good word for you...and having them "pull strings" to get you the job. If all he did was get you an interview and you took care of the rest, it's fine. But if he has actual "pull" with the company...meaning, they have to do what he tells them to...then there might be some resentment among your coworkers.

First time I saw one, I was a kid riding shotgun in my uncle's pickup truck. We were driving pretty fast down this old logging road, on our way out to cut some firewood at an old clearcut site.

All of a sudden there was this big brown wall of fur right outside my window. I couldn't even tell what it was until my uncle gently slowed down to let it pass us. The thing's shoulder was just higher than the top of the truck, and it was running just as fast as us, when it came out of the bush and started running along beside us. Its antlers were almost as wide as the truck was.

We just kept slowing down to give him some space, and it just kept going at full speed until he disappeared around a bend. I didn't even have time to be scared...just in shock at how massive it was. It nearly broke my brain.

My uncle just said something like, "Holy shit, that was close! That would have destroyed my truck if we hit him."

Oh, man...you almost had me. I got at least two paragraphs in before I thought, "this can't be true...can it?" Checked the header...oh, thank God.
