Animal agriculture and car-centric infrastructure are honestly two of the biggest blind-spots of mainstream progressives. The tide has been turning for car dependency somewhat, with more and more people starting to get behind the idea of walkable, cyclable cities.

However people can't seem to overcome to cognitive dissonance and realize that the meat, dairy, and egg industries are antithetical to their morals and ideals.

Blaming your fellow queers for your oppression, that's so incredibly lame.

I'm sure you are the perfect expression of queerness, and if every gay were like you, the bigots would stop hating us. /s

Like what are you even proposing? That in order to be an effective queer activist, you need to be okay with misgendering? I feel your rage, but please direct it towards the fascists taking away our rights instead of bashing other queers. This kind of community in-fighting in what the bigots want, we need queer solidarity right now.

Lincoln is such a good album, we're so blessed to walk in the glow of TMBG's majestic presence.

You're supposed to tear it off before wiping, dude!!

I was having issues getting my Android device to use my local DNS server over VPN, what worked for me was setting it up through RethinkDNS. There's a setting to prevent DNS leaks by capturing all traffic on port 53 and directing it to the DNS server you set. It doesn't feel like an elegant solution but hey, it works.

Note, you'll have to make sure your private DNS setting is off, in the internet section of the system settings.

I had just turned 14 the first time I smoked weed. I stole some from my parent's stash after encouragement from a kid I played Team Fortress 2 with and smoked it in the garage when they were gone. I kept on doing this on a weekly to bi-weekly basis throughout my teenage years. My parents only learned about it when I told them a few years ago.

Was 17 the first time I got drunk, in a small garage (or large shed, depending on your perspective) with some friends and some adult supervision in the form of my friend's parents zonked out in front of the TV in their home.

Other drugs (LSD, coke, but mainly shrooms) I experimented with in my mid 20s.

From a quick Lemmy search, I've seen Njalla and 1984.hosting being recommended for these kinds of uses.

On desktop I really like FreeTube, if you're interested in an alternative. I don't usually want apps for things that should be websites, but I use YouTube enough (and Google invests so much energy in making youtube.com a miserable experience) that it justifies having a dedicated app for it, in my case.

I'm not sure how it would do multiple languages however, as I've not tried it.

As someone who types the majority of my thoughts in Frenglish, Heliboard is the only FOSS keyboard I've found that would remotely accommodate that while still having useful autocorrect.

I love the look of it, federated blogging is such a neat idea!

What software do you use to do this? WriteFreely?

I don't have traditional TV service so I'm unfamiliar with what "shit" Google is pushing through the TV app. However, if it's what I suspect (ads), a possible option would be using a local DNS server (like pi-hole or Unbound) to block Google domains on your TV.

Is there a specific route or trail you want to hit up this summer? A distance or fitness goal of some sort? Planning a bicycle tour? Bikepacking?

Please share, I'm curious to see what all of you are getting up to for this summer!

Please format it like this: [!community@instance.ml](/c/community@instance.ml), example: !technology@beehaw.org

This link is clickable on the Lemmy web interface, and will redirect you to the community within your own instance! It doesn't work in the Jerboa app, I don't know about other interfaces. Note that if your instance hasn't had any users interact with the linked community yet, you'll get a 404 error, and you'll have to manually search !community@instance.ml to federate them.

Picture from a little 50km ride I did at the start of spring 2022! This was one of my first longer rides where I tried hauling more weight in my panniers in preparation for a small bicycle tour I did at the end of summer 2022.

As always when I trust in Google Maps in my pretty rural province, I ended up on an ATV trail (note: this picture was taken after about 2km of completely muddy trail full of tire tracks).

At least my beer felt at home.

Cycling communities were one of my favourite parts of reddit, and I've been unable to find any equivalents on here so I decided to start this community. Feel free to post and comment about anything related to cycling! I'd love for this place to continue in the spirit of /r/xbiking, not necessarily content-wise but definitely attitude-wise. We're all cyclists, and at the end of the day the only criteria for being a part of this community is riding a bicycle (and enjoying it!)

Please comment any suggestions you have for this space, or simply say hi and let us know what you like to do on your bike!

(Are dumb memes allowed here? Should we have two separate communities, one for news/politics and one for memes, or is this corner of the fediverse still too small for that right now?)
