Since the steam deck 2 will make use of the amazing gains, I wonder if people will really start considering the Deck as an alternative to Switch 2. There's already a TON of overlap in the indy game scene. SO many of those release on both Steam and Switch.

Obviously the hardcore Nintendo IP fans will stick with Switch 2, but outside of that ... ???

The Deck has really been a game changer!

I would be amazed if it sells for anywhere near 40. I bet it launches at closer to 60.

Getting close to that 2021 release at $40k purchase price?

does Doom count? Because my friends and I still play the game to this day, all the various community mods and maps.

I loved this at first but then the complexity of the various mechanics seemed to take a sharp rocket ship upwards through the roof. I got kind of lost and then tried to read the wiki guide and it was like a book, so that was that. I really wanted to like it though! Maybe I should give it another go.

Do you know what happened to it? Just curious.

I think LW is better out of the box. It has both UBO and Containers built in. Which is just awesome. I still use FF as my daily just because I have customized it beyond belief, but if I were to start over again I think I'd start with LW.

Also the other instance I was using ... vlemmy.net ... has been down for like a week now. I wonder if it's completely done for?

So beautiful! Did you all learn by just practice and experience? Or trained?

no client - firefox containers for when I'm forced to use gsuite (work stuff) so I can keep different gmail tabs open without cross contaminating the cookies. And ProtonMail for personal (also in its own container).

Their wiki article lists System Shock as their third original game (I guess do you mean developed solely by them?)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightdive_Studios

Also - their release of SS was plagued with delays (like almost a decade) and still released with game breaking bugs.

those rings. How amazing is it that we JUST SO HAPPEN to exist in the teeny tiny time frame that they even exist? To us pitiful humans, the rings of Saturn are eternal. But in reality they are but a blink in the existence of the planet itself.

Cassini reports they are between 10 - 100 million yrs old and will be gone in another 300 million yrs. So lets average that out at 350 million years lifespan.

Saturn is 4.6 billion years old. We just happen to be around for the show.

After distro hopping for ages, a while back I found myself giving Tumbleweed a try and I have been here ever since. Really really liking the experience and don't think I'll be hopping anywhere anytime soon. The game changer for me was the btrfs file system, and using snapper to do a rollback due to a bad update, and everything just working SO SMOOTHLY.

The rolling release model is wonderful, and the zypper updates / package management is a breath of fresh air.

Overall just want to say how much I'm enjoying it here and thanks to the developers and community for making such a great distribution.
